If I buy an iron on patch then it should iron on and stay on.

MY dd has a hole in her jeans from falling over, bought an iron on patch for it but it will not stick on and it is impossible to sew it on, I need a thicker needle and a thinner patch. Not a very happy as i really like her jeans and don't want to have to buy a new pair.

Patch them with some other fabric...contrasting. I use upholstery fabric and did my own in a lovely rose print curtain fabric. Bit kooky but cool for kids.
