to be annoyed at the school receptionists blatant flouting of my right to privacy?

We're new at the school, DD1 started reception last week.
I took done contact forms in this morning to the school office window.
THe, very nice, woman took them off me and left them by her side and carried on dealing with the que - with my address completely on show, for any Tom dick or Harry to nose at! Shock
We are exceedingly well respected in the local community as business people and I really don't think that this info should be getting into the public demain.
At least 8 other adults were dealt with after shed put the form down.
Could/should I complain to the HT re the data protection act?
I'm really upset by this.

I know BOF, it was a pathetic attempt at irony. Blush

First prize to you though on picking it up. A pen, pencil and ruler set is on it's way. I know where you live as I was once behind you when you were handing in a form. My memory is outstanding. Grin

LookBackInAnger · 17/09/2012 11:28

I know I'm unreasonably distracted by language, but cannot get past "compacked and bijou" and having a "mesmerising" address. I have visions of passing pedestrians being hypnotised by the ornaments in your front garden.

It's COMPACT and bijoux, memorised/memorise, ask (not arsk), and if the form said confidential, then you put it in a damned envelope.

I know, I'm going to be flamed, but for the love of all that is important, spend more time looking to your own flaws, and less the poor receptionist. I believe in this context Confidential implies that they will not be handing your address out to all and sundry, especially sundry, without your express permission.

oldraver · 17/09/2012 11:28

I think you are being ever so slightly potty.

I am a little bit peeved that DS's school have obviously tried to save money and have stapled all the contact sheets over rather than put it in an envelope with your name on the front. DS's went missing in the class and as we assume it has gone home with someone else it would of been easier to retrieve. Its probably at the bottom of someones book bag

amck5700 · 17/09/2012 11:28

Hmmmm Social Worker maybe?

GoldShip · 17/09/2012 11:28

I hope you didn't leave your gold plated fountain pen there too. They might dust it for your fingerprints Angry

Witness protection scheme... Taps nose...

NellyJob · 17/09/2012 11:29

I don't see what her spelling has got to do with it, tbh.

hippermiddleton · 17/09/2012 11:30

I'm puzzled about your burning need for privacy if you're not a sleb, and yet you spend 'long days in the community'. Are you one of those football mascots? Is there are City v United issue with local supporters?

LookBackInAnger · 17/09/2012 11:30

Sorry, typing and watching West Wing, very slow response so x-post.

MadgeHarvey · 17/09/2012 11:31

Her spelling would have less to do with it if she wasn't so freaking marvellously well respected and loved by the locals!

Pandemoniaa · 17/09/2012 11:32

Body Everyself.

Enough said.

sugarice · 17/09/2012 11:32

compackedandbijoux · 17/09/2012 11:34

There is lots of jobs out there that you don't need to be ace at spelling to do proper. Did I say loved by locals? Have a bit o banter with them yes.

HeadfirstForHalos · 17/09/2012 11:35

Are you local ?

NellyJob · 17/09/2012 11:35

right well the first four are out cos she said she was in 'business'.....
that's the chip shop owner then.

hippermiddleton · 17/09/2012 11:35

Are you Mrs Claus?

CaseyShraeger · 17/09/2012 11:36

Can I just check? You saw her put your contact form there and then hung around whike the other people in the queue were seen, but you didn't say a word at the time to the receptionist about covering your form or turning it upside down? Instead you waited, then came on here later and started a thread about it, and you're wondering whether you should complain further to someone else again (the HT)?

If so, then obviously YABU. You have the gift of speech for a reason. Next time, use it.

But if you do complain to the HT, be sure to remember to tell him/her that you are exceedingly well respected in the local community.

squeakytoy · 17/09/2012 11:37

OP, you do know it is compact not compacked... Wink

PooPooOnMars · 17/09/2012 11:38

Dr?

compackedandbijoux · 17/09/2012 11:38

People like to chat as they go about there business. I think the point of this thread is being missed - she should of turned the Pages over - I'd done it in my best purple Sharpy so the writing was quite vivid. Sad We and I think the pp were right an envelope (onvelope?) Would next time.

Lollipop lady?

SuperB0F · 17/09/2012 11:38

Ach, come on, you're over-doing it now, OP. Subtlety is key.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 17/09/2012 11:39

Please do complain.

Write your letter and remember to use the spell check feature.

Pop the letter in an envelope and hand it in.

Remember to let us know how you get on!

wicketter · 17/09/2012 11:39

If you are as well respected as you say AND you are new to the area, the chances are they all ready know where you live. Sorry love

AnyFucker · 17/09/2012 11:40

Everybody knows you should complete forms in black
