That will accept bad credit?

I've had to apply for income support since ex left me and my claim hasn't gone through yet, so i've been using my child tax credits to buy food and just leaving everything else for now - It will get paid, its just that food is more important right now - My stupid effing bank have taken 70 quid in charges. So i have zero money until next saturday.

They wont give me a crisis loan because exOH had 3 on a joint claim when he was unemployed and we were waiting for a joint claim to go through.

I wouldn't even consider a pay day loan if i weren't desperate, but i am and i was wondering if any one knew any that will accept basically anybody, I don't even care if theyre dodgy or charge shit loads, i just need to buy food for my child and i'm getting angry with my bank and these shit charges and everything just seems so unfair right now. Please dont lecture me on how shit payday loans are, i know they are, but atm needs must.

Natwest are famous for extortionate charges, that they find difficult to explain at times... If you go on Moneysavingexpert website you will find a lot of advice regarding getting all your charges back, I am sure I have read that it is illegal to take charges out of peoples benefits, but banks manage to do it because benefits are paid in there. Phone them and be firm, explain the situation, ask exactly what the charges are for and if they are for an unauthorised overdraft caused by them taking charges out tell them that you request them back.

Ask for a complaints form and give them a time limit to get it to you, if you had not received it in that time limit tel them you will be approaching the FSA and the Finicial Ombudsman.

Please do everything you can to avoid taking out any loan. Hope everything turns out ok:)

Please do not get a payday loan. Unless you can be 100% certain that you have enough coming in to cover the repayments, it will catapult you so far into debt that it can take forever to climb out.

For food in the meantime: 1) try the priest of your local catholic church - they often have systems set up to give you a meal/ meal voucher. 2) contact CAB/your health visitor/gp and ask if there is a local food bank that they have vouchers for (you have to have a voucher). The food banks supply enough food for 3 days if you slavishly follow the recipe they include.

MoaningMingeWhingesAgain · 17/09/2012 07:55

Food Banks

Sorry it's a NM link with foodbanks in your area. Please do contact NatWest as well, they shouldn't be taking your benefits for charges.

5inthebed · 17/09/2012 08:05

Natwest should not be charging you for a £2 overdraft. Please call them or go higher as per oraneimperials link above. It is worth a shot.

Lolwhut · 17/09/2012 08:15

You could try posting on Moneysavingexperts. Lots of good suggestions here though. Smile

I wouldn't use a payday loan. They are terrible. You should read some of the stories on MoneySavingExpert. I think they should be banned much more tightly controlled.

Badjudgeofcharacter · 17/09/2012 08:25

You need to go to the bank again and tell them that you will contact the ombudsman as they have left you without money for food. If they can't help go to CAB. You need to go to the JC and get your claim separated on the main system from your ex partners, then you can apply for a crisis loan.

Badjudgeofcharacter · 17/09/2012 08:26

If you get this sorted with the JC this morning you can apply for a crisis loan today but you must do it this morning.

carovioletfizz · 17/09/2012 09:17

Queen, I am so sorry you are in this very unfair situation.

I would strongly advise you to not only follow the avenues suggested with Natwest, but also write on their Facebook and Twitter pages of exactly what they have done to you, and the fact you are desperate and have no food. This will be very bad PR for them and they will hopefully be so mortified they will refund you the charges quickly.
www.facebook.com/NatWest
I have done this before with organisations and you should get a very quick reaction. If you do it and send the link through I will certainly comment for you on their FB page, the more people they think are seeing it the quicker they will respond. Good luck.xx

D0oinMeCleanin · 17/09/2012 09:26

NatWest can and will offer you an emergency overdraft, which will cover the fees and allow you to withdraw money. It won't be much but it will help.

They've done it for me once when I was in your position, go to your local branch in person and ask to the see the manager. Crying helps but if you feel anything like I did you won't need any help with that Smile

I'm sorry this happening OP.

GreenParcel · 17/09/2012 09:27

Where in the northwest are you?

Mrsjay · 17/09/2012 09:31

Mrsjay · 17/09/2012 09:32

anastaisia · 17/09/2012 09:59

Queen. I don't live terribly far from you. I wouldn't (couldn't anyway) offer someone random of the internet money - but I'd be happy to drop off some food so you have time to sort it out without needing to go for a payday loan.

Message me if you want to.

PowerDresser · 17/09/2012 10:29

What a lovely idea Anastaisia.

If the OP is too proud for that, she could go to Freecycle and put Food in the Wanted column with an explanation of why. Just bread, jam, porridge, milk etc.

goingbacktowork · 17/09/2012 11:57

Did this get sorted?

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 17/09/2012 12:36

Where in the Northwest?

Like Anastasia. I wouldn't just hand over money, but I can arrange an online shop to be delivered to you?

I've been where you are - with no money at all and days to go. It's shit. In my case it was self inflicted and I learned from it. In your case it's not. I'd be glad to help.

mamamibbo · 17/09/2012 13:10

social services have some money fot this, you might get food vouchers but it means you would have food

5inthebed · 17/09/2012 17:02

Did you get any joy from the bank?

goingbacktowork · 19/09/2012 11:13

BaronVonAwesome · 19/09/2012 12:13
