That will accept bad credit?

I've had to apply for income support since ex left me and my claim hasn't gone through yet, so i've been using my child tax credits to buy food and just leaving everything else for now - It will get paid, its just that food is more important right now - My stupid effing bank have taken 70 quid in charges. So i have zero money until next saturday.

They wont give me a crisis loan because exOH had 3 on a joint claim when he was unemployed and we were waiting for a joint claim to go through.

I wouldn't even consider a pay day loan if i weren't desperate, but i am and i was wondering if any one knew any that will accept basically anybody, I don't even care if theyre dodgy or charge shit loads, i just need to buy food for my child and i'm getting angry with my bank and these shit charges and everything just seems so unfair right now. Please dont lecture me on how shit payday loans are, i know they are, but atm needs must.

Lovebox - Do all of them do that? My account is £2 overdrawn atm so it has £0 available.

NC - I thought i would pay it back from IS paymentwhen i get it, as they should backdate it? Which would cover it if i only borrow like £50? I dont care if its extortion.

Worra - I don't have any jewelerry ive never wore it lol i lose things like that too easily to bother spending money on it. I have put some of DSs old clothes on for sale online but no luck yet.

If your DC still has a health visitor, tell them what's going on. You need access to a food bank.

NCForNow · 16/09/2012 22:41

I agree with confusion it is worth asking for a crisis loan and explaining about your exes involvemenr....

NCForNow · 16/09/2012 22:42

queen yes but you don't know when the IS will pay you...so you will end up oweing most of your IS payment when it comes.

Is there nobody? A friend?

hlipop · 16/09/2012 22:43

what can you make from the fridge / freezer / cupboards?? even if it means you not eating much just to feed your child/ren - also maybe visit relatives / friends around tea time this week?? cereals are usually always in cupboards so biig breakfast - if you've got small change bread and milk so you can at least do bread and butter sandwhiches drink lots of water etc - try not to go to payday lender its a vicious circle!!

flow4 · 16/09/2012 22:44

You already know how shit payday loans are... Have you tried all these alternatives?

IvanaNap · 16/09/2012 22:45

Madlizzy I thought that - called crisis loans, go to local jobcentre who will point you in the right direction (council services or similar, dependent on town). They should also award or fast-track vouchers for fruit, veg and milk if you are eligible or don't already get these. Food banks a good option before crisis loans as mentioned by other upthread.

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 16/09/2012 22:45

GS - Thanks ill try those.

OTC - No, he told me because i get tax credits im not that desperate and £63 a week is perfectly adequate. He made me feel like a right scrounger. exOH is 2 hours away, he buggered off back to the town we came from, he doesnt know because hes always pissed and when hes sober he just tells me how hes not got any money or anything No sympathy, he left his work

NC - I live about 2 hours away from everyone i know apart from my mum.

QOD- I only know about wonga as it's the only one I've used. I have an agreed 2K overdraft with my bank, and they will happily lend me money while I'm in my agreed overdraft (e.g while there are still funds "available for withdrawal"). If I exceed my agreed overdraft, then I can't get a new wonga loan, or add to an existing one.

If you are only £2 overdrawn, go into your bank and put £3 in to your account- it should work then. I know it's a shitty situations but sounds like you are stuck between a rock and a hard place without much choice.

Ragwort · 16/09/2012 22:48

Where is your nearest town, I've tried to work it out from your profile, are you in the NE? There will be food banks near you, please try them, do not take out a loan.

Have you really got no friends who could help you with a few groceries even if you don't want to borrow money?

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 16/09/2012 22:52

Usual - She will if she has it, but i dont want to ask her because if doesnt have it she will start worrying and stress really affects her (She has something i cant spell fobo/fibro-something).

Lovebox - I dont have £2 on me lol.

Ragwort - I'm in the northwest, I dont know anybody up here, I want to make friends but everyone thinks im really stuck up because theythink i talk posh and they just take the piss out of me so i dont bother going out anymore.

I don't want to sound really patronising, but have a look on thus website. There are loads of recipes using very basic cheap ingredients, I know in the past it has helped me knock together cheap meals out of stuff I had in the cupboards when I have had no cash. Like making pastry out of flour and vegetable oil for instance.

As for pay day loans, I have never had to use them as I am extremely lucky that if I am in dire straights I have parent's that are just about able to help me out. However my mum works for a high st company that does them and she hates her job, she was made redundant from her last job in banking and has ended up doing this. She says that lots of people get trapped I a cycle of always being short so come back week after week. She is looking for another job but obviously, she can't just walk out until she has another. But I can see why you are stuck.

I know the cash may not be instant enough, but can you sell any stuff on eBay/gumtree/at a car boot? I did this recently and got rid of loads of stuff I never use that was cluttering up the place: books/CDs/clothes etc. Got a much tidier house and some cash into the bargain.

Second what people have said about gold. I have never really owned any, but did ex give you any? I'm guessing you wouldn't want to hold onto it for sentimental reasons! Grin

Dordeydoo · 16/09/2012 22:55

If you have clothes that aren't needed then take them to One of those places where they give you cash per kilo of clothes.

Ragwort · 16/09/2012 22:56

There must be a food bank/community larder near you - I live in a very small town and we have one, run by the churches, please use it. You say your mother would be stressed if you asked for help but surely she would rather give you a few pounds than find out that you were borrowing huge sums of money - imagine if this was your daughter in the future.

jellybaby25 · 16/09/2012 22:56

I hv just done a quick search & found lots of food banks online. There must be one near you to tide you over.

Tempernillo · 16/09/2012 22:58

Agree that even if you borrowed a tenner from your mum, bought some really cheap food like rice, spuds, lentils/pulses and cheap veg eg carrots, onions etc (see website I linked to for recipes) you could just about survive for a week or so an avoid getting into a horrible cycle of debt. Sad

NCForNow · 16/09/2012 22:59

I couldn't find one in her area Jellybaby maybe you could link them here so the OP can find them.

sarahj85 · 16/09/2012 22:59

They really are the best way to get yourself in a lot of trouble - believe me, I know. I would try and do some extra work on People per Hour or something to make a bit of extra cash rather than borrow!

Tempernillo · 16/09/2012 23:00

For instance you can buy a bag of bread flour for 59p and make 6 loaves of bread out of it.

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 16/09/2012 23:01

Dordeyoo - I have loads of clothes i dont wear lol. I dont know what places you mean though?

Ragwort - She would only say no if she literally has no money. She is disabled and only on IB, some weeks she literally has pennies left.

OP posts:
TheQueenOfDiamonds · 16/09/2012 23:02

Jellybaby - I dont know ive never even heard of them? If theyre not in my imediate area though i wouldnt be able to get to them anyway.

OP posts:
OrangeImperialGoldBlether · 16/09/2012 23:03

OP, you need to get the bank to give you the charge money back.

I'm with Lloyds who are complete bastards, but I emailed their Chief Executive and within five minutes I had a phone call. The guy was really nice (he was an assistant) and said he'd ring again within half an hour. He did and said the charges were disgraceful and I would be reimbursed the full amount. (I'd had charges one month which meant I was broke the next so got charged again - this went on for a few months and the charges were several hundred pounds.)

Which bank are you with? I can find you the email address.

NCForNow · 16/09/2012 23:04

Temper but you also need Yeast, sugar and salt.

Queen a food bank is a place where yu can get free groceries if you're in dire straights...they're often linked to churches or other charitable places. They're not one organisation but many different ones.

NCForNow · 16/09/2012 23:06

oraanges gives good advice Queen
