To not want to give my in laws our bed?

My in laws are coming to stay with us for 3 weeks (we are overseas) later in the year.

We have a king sized bed and our guest room has a double. FIL is quite a big man (20 stone or more poss). DP thinks we should let them sleep in our bed.

I feel sad / like I'm being ousted in our own home. DP says if I'm uphappy we won't / it's fine but now I'm second guessing myself / like it's the right thing to do?

We slept in that bed for a year and it was OK - my DP isn't exactly small.

More of a what would you do, perhaps?

Thank you, expat, I'm looking at the chocolate sprinkles on my cappuccino in a whole new light.

If they were facing a fortnight on an air mattress I'd completely see where your DP is coming from, but they've got the luxury of hotel standard accommodation for free at your place. You wouldn't be just giving up your bed but your whole room. Imagine having to knock on the door to ask if you can come in so you can fetch a different pair of shoes or another random item you didn't forsee needing over the course of their stay.

You get the master bedroom, you've paid for it.

In-laws always sleep in the double in the guest room here (our superking is ALL MINE (and a little bit dh's)).

However, we always let parents/in-laws have the master suite when we go away.

urgh! if i had a father in law ( i have an ex one) i wouldn't want him in my bed, even if i wasn't there at the time.
