At the hotel for moving us due to renovations when we booked 7 months ago. Grrrr.

Due to be going to Paris in a month. Booked ages ago to get a hotel right by the racecourse we're going to so we could walk there each day. We got an email this week to say we are being moved to a hotel which is 3 districts away, so isn't walkable. The hotel we're moving to is cheaper, but we'll be spending money on travel (as well as precious time) and isn't in such a nice part.

We booked through booking.com so they haven't taken payment yet but now it's too late to find anything else for the same money (we're on a very tight budget)!

DH has got very grumpy at the hotel as they originally said the whole hotel is shut due to renovation, but when he threatened to go there to check in as planned, they said it isn't all shut, but they don't have a room for us.

Well if their roof is falling in or something, they can hardly accept guests. Businesses are usually pretty loath to upset paying customers so it must be pretty serious. They found you another room, cheaper, and you say you can't find one so they've obviously put some effort into it for you. What more could they do?

We had this a few years ago. Booked several rooms in a well known chain of hotels several months in advance of a family wedding. 6 weeks to go and we were told no rooms available due to over booking. No chance of getting alternative rooms in same location on a half term weekend.

A bit of digging uncovered information that the hotel had actually been given over to the MOD for that period and that the deal had been done several months before. Poor planning and communication had lead to a lot of people being inconvenienced. We coordinated our protests And the chain end up paying the difference for us all to stay at a more expensive hotel locally.

It's worth protesting.
