To get annoyed when M.N get arsey with o.p's

I personally think some mumsnetters get way too arsey when an o.p starts a thread about a topic that has been discussed before. Perhaps the poster doesn't spend their whole life on here and doesn't keep a perfectly maintained scrap books of threads. Maybe posters could be constructive, link it to an old thread or how about not answer?

YANBU OP this drives me mad, particularly when it's someone who has been here for years. Of course it's been done before! All parents face broadly similar issues, the same types of thing will come up again and again.

If you've read it/commented on a topic before and don't which to do so again then DON'T. Mumsnet isn't compulsory!

Redhillibilly · 15/09/2012 15:41

What's a zombie?

MNhoneydragonHQ · 15/09/2012 15:57

Oh Zombie darling. Threads by Zombies are fine. Unless yours was resurrected, then it would be a Zombie Zombie thread.

Frontpaw · 15/09/2012 16:04

Do zombies happen by glitch or do people resurrect them?

Sometimes people start another that because they are using Crapberries which are just rubbishy rubbish and don't work well enough to search before you start a new thread.

I hate my Crapberry.

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 15/09/2012 16:13

Do zombies happen by glitch or do people resurrect them?

People want to post about something, but fearing the "god this has been done to death" response, they decide to do a search.

They read the thread they find, that was written 2 years ago and then reply to try and get some advice/help/whatever.

Then they get moaned about for resurrecting an old thread.

So basically, only talk about new stuff, don't resurrect old stuff and all will be fine.

I think.

(have no idea if this AIBU is in response to a particular thread btw)

Oh and leave Zombie alone - what's she ever done to you lot

This happened to me yesterday (or was it the day before?) when I asked an innocent little question about LIKE buttons... I mean, I thought I'd come up with a stunningly original idea... And OK I concede that that was pretty fkng stupid a little bit naive... But then all the Old Hands started getting all shouty, and now Maryz doesn't love me any more :(
And it turns out MNhoneydragonHQ doesn't actually exist, so after this discussion it seems pretty likely she is actually a zombie
It's all a bit confusing for folk like me that only discovered MN a few months ago Confused

Mintyy · 15/09/2012 16:18

I don't know why hq keep all the old threads. People generally do not refer back to them.

How many times have we had smelly washing machine? About 20,000 by now I should think.

Rachog · 15/09/2012 16:22

I never search before I post a thread, after all other people might answer this one that weren't around when the subject was discussed previously. However there are lots of topics I wouldn't start because I know they are done to death, ear piercing on babies anyone?

EverlongYouAreGoldAndOrange · 15/09/2012 16:22

Zombie threads don't bother me really.

They have been dragged up because it's usually relevant to someone.

Hullygully · 15/09/2012 16:23

oh who cares

Mintyy · 15/09/2012 16:29

Now be nice Hully.

Op cares.

Hullygully · 15/09/2012 16:33

bum

lovebunny · 15/09/2012 16:36

reading mn just convinces me that mners love to be nasty. it doesn't have to be about repeated topics.

watch them, and notice how they'll argue one way if it suits them and the other way a few days later, depending on who they want to hurt at the time.

EverlongYouAreGoldAndOrange · 15/09/2012 16:38

That's not true bunny

There is support of every kind on mn.

Yes folk are frank at times but can blame them me ?

What with all the trolls and dickheads.

Frontpaw · 15/09/2012 16:39

I suppose some people have a crappy day and say things in the anonymity of t'internet that they wouldn't in real life, face to face.

Unlike the nasry tattooed lady this morning who scared me when she decided to pick a fight with another untattooed lady at a kids event.

Hullygully · 15/09/2012 16:40

and cunts

and boring bastards

and sanctimonious POs

Frontpaw · 15/09/2012 16:41

Hully, are you feeling ok? What did I miss? Has someone been killing kittens again?

SrirachaGirl · 15/09/2012 16:58

Neither one bothers me in the slightest. In fact zombie threads can sometimes be quite entertaining; I might go and dig up one of my favourites in a minute in case any newbies have some fresh perspective Grin.

Surely if it's a thread that doesn't interest you (the 50 bazillionth incarnation of the latest baby-led weaning controversy for example) you just don't open it, yes?

ooops I just posted somewhere that it was about the sixth thread on said topic in as many days..... sighs broke the MN rules again just when i thought I was getting the hang of them. Blush

RustyBear · 15/09/2012 17:13

I am the proud mum of a zombie thread - I started an 'empty nest' thread six years ago when DS left for university, and it has been revived every year since (admittedly mostly by me, but not always) I like to think it has been useful to a lot of people. (Of course the fact that it's still going means that it hasn't managed to garner 1000 posts in over 6 years, but still....)

EverlongYouAreGoldAndOrange · 15/09/2012 17:51

rusty that is pretty impressive Wink

booki how do you know these sad souls are on here all day everyday?

MNhoneydragonHQ · 15/09/2012 18:21

Personally I prefer the sad people who pop in everyday to the people who pop in occasionally to be bitches.
