to think that paying £815 for 60 issues of a part work magazine is only for utter doilies?

Surely it's cheaper to buy a book on Macrame-ing Battleships of the 17th Century?

Confused

Absolutely. What part work is it?

Pascha · 14/09/2012 22:01

A partwork on doilies?

Pascha · 14/09/2012 22:02

Isn't £13.59/issue a trifle dear?

picnicbasketcase · 14/09/2012 22:03

Partworks are loopy. I'm still Hmm at the cynicism of tv ads that show 99p for a first issue and then in tiny writing 'usual price £6.99'

fivegomadindorset · 14/09/2012 22:07

When I was a TA one of the boys in the class I was in wanted to to the partworks for a remote controlled car convinced it was good value, so I went through the calculations with him, he didn't buy it in the end.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 14/09/2012 22:37

Nope, the doilies are the ones what don't do the maffs.

I don't think the companies that publish them expect more than a handful of people to buy the whole thing.

I'm sure their profit calculations are based on selling the first 2-3 issues only.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 15/09/2012 15:34

What's a part work magazine. You have to explain things for me, I'm thick.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 15/09/2012 15:34

And clearly incapable of using a question mark.

TapirBackRider · 15/09/2012 15:57

YANBU

Ds wanted one of these about Star Trek. I worked out it would have cost us over £600 for the model set with the magazine, or £200 for the exact same thing from a shop/ebay/amazon.

Tis a rip off.

GoldShip · 15/09/2012 15:59

Doilies?
I don't know about you but to me those are these

Doley maybe?

ddubsgirl · 15/09/2012 16:19

was there a problem with the dolls house one few years back where issues went missing and couldnt be finished, was on watchdog or something like that, they worked it out and was 3/4 times more than just buying a dolls house!

Anonymumous · 15/09/2012 16:28

My son had a human body one and ended up with a skeleton (complete with organs) the same size as him. It cost about £150 in the end, but I have to say, it is really fab. Blush

Though I was a bit taken aback when he read the magazines in bed and informed me on the way to school that sperms are really cute...

redwhiteandblueeyedsusan · 15/09/2012 16:31

those adverts are guaranteed to make me shout at the telly... Blush

ddubsgirl · 15/09/2012 16:37
