NCP car parks are built to leave a little of your car behind?

I saw not one, not two but three people today scrape their car in an underground car park... In the space of ten minutes... It's like they have a target how much paint they can accumulate on their bollards. It was painful to see... poor blokes :(...

I've managed to never scrape my huge car in a car park tbh so YABU!

JeuxDEnfants · 14/09/2012 20:09

Ha ha, neither have I but there's plenty who do :). The look on their faces...

YANBU i hate them and would rather park further away or pay more

Sirzy · 14/09/2012 20:12

I do sometimes wonder if they actually considered the fact that people have to manouvre in car parks when they design some. I have managed to avoid damaging mine so far but there are some evil car parks out there!

JeuxDEnfants · 14/09/2012 20:17

You'd think they would design them with manoeuvrability in mind but instead they put great big very high chunks of concrete everywhere. I though one bloke was going to cry, brand new white flashy sports car...

I hate ncp car parks! I've never scraped my car in them but once I pulled into a space after looking for about 15 minutes and felt really pleased with myself until I realised I couldn't get the door open wide enough to get my enormous bump out. Blush I always really struggle to get the dcs in and out of the car too, the spaces are ridiculously narrow!

ModreB · 14/09/2012 20:53

Umm, drive slowly enough so you don't hit the corners? Grin

SoleSource · 14/09/2012 21:02

Ncp are too expensive, dangerous and spaces too narrow.

Tuttutitlookslikerain · 14/09/2012 21:09

I've never done it, but some car parks are ridiculous. There is hardly any room to manoeuvre and there are rainbows of paint on walls and bollards all the way round them. I have specific car parks I will park in, and won't even contemplate others. I even carefully choose the day I will go!

JeuxDEnfants · 14/09/2012 21:09

If you have a long car they don't even fit in the space... Oh and I love the warning sign "fragile roof, car parked at owners risk"

£18 for 4 hours near great ormand st :(

Fucking NCP car parks! I can back a tractor with a ten ton trailer on it - and I drive an 8 seater people carrier. Haven't scraped my car yet but I drive round NCPs muttering about 'bastard bloody architects who couldn't design a lego house' and similar things. Obviously the more cars they can cram in the better. Reckon most of 'em were built when the Mini was the most popular car out there!

Bonkerz · 14/09/2012 21:15

The concrete pillars in ncP car parks MOVE. No really they do. I've driven into many a parking space and the bloody concrete pillar has moved and hit my car. Wink

The NCPs are huge compared to continental multi stories! We went to France (and took a day trip to Spain) in DH's A6 estate this summer. I still don't know how he managed to manoeuver it out without scraping it!
