She is such a beautiful woman, but she looks old and drawn since she got "hollywood skinny". She looked so much better when she had a little more weight on her, not much, still slim, but not super skinny.

Her eyes and cheeks are sunken, her teeth and eyes looks too big for her head and her neck is quite scrawny. Just put half a stone on love!

RightBuggerforGOLD · 14/09/2012 11:02

Yabu. It is none of you business and she looks fine. Very slim but not offensive or shocking, just maybe not to your taste! Would it be unreasonable to come on here and say 'ooh i wish Adele would lose a few stone'? Of course, so why do you think it's ok the other way round? Rude and very U imo.

limitedperiodonly · 14/09/2012 11:34

Why do you find it hard to understand that's it's not okay to comment negatively on someone else's body?

It doesn't fool anyone when you try to dress it up as concern for their health.

Or concern for impressionable teenage girls, which is generally the other excuse.

geegee888 · 14/09/2012 11:41

What, like a milch cow?

She's aged. It happens. Excess fat can be equally ageing.

Ephiny · 14/09/2012 11:47

Yes maybe she looks older now because she is older. It's not a crime for women to age!

(though if I look as 'old' Hmm as she does when I'm her age, I certainly won't be complaining!)

slowestwildebeast · 14/09/2012 11:49

If you have any tips for putting weight on I'd love to hear them.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/09/2012 12:19

I think that considering she is working and raising a baby and her marriage has not long broken down, she can be forgiven for looking on the skinny side.

Badgerina · 14/09/2012 12:20

Why are women's bodies seen as public property?

Why are pictures of women in bikinis splattered all over magazines and newspapers either to be mocked: "she can't seem to get rid of her baby belly" or sneered: "ooooooh! She must be pregnant - look at that wobble!" or to be tutted at and scorned because "she's too thin, must be a crack addict/have an eating disorder/be otherwise unhinged and mental in some way"?????

Why is there so much focus on what women look like? Rather than what women DO? Or say? Or write? Or sing? Or film? Or publish? Or discover?

It's so fucking BORING.

Emilia Fox is an actor. Is she a good actor? Do we believe her? Do we respect her work? Do we enjoy the things she appears in? Do we know where she trained? What her first job was? What her plans are for her career?

What ELSE of some worth could we be discussing?

Icelollycraving · 14/09/2012 12:34

She isn't a model though is she? I really feel for actors/singers when every picture is scrutinised for them not being perfect. Few people look amazing 24/7. We are so used to pictures that are airbrushed that normal starts to equal wrong, that in itself is wrong.
I find it very rude to say that someone needs to put on weight. There are the constant curves are womanly/skinny is like a child put downs by general media. Most of us look at our best at a healthy weight but it isn't really anyone else's business. I would be mortified if someone judged me for my weight,it probably happens but IMO says more about them than me.

gordyslovesheep · 14/09/2012 13:51

yabu - she's always been tiny - maybe she doesn;t gain weight easily - not really your problem or worth worrying about

I find the obsession with women's weight in the tabs really disturbing - The Fail is running a hate campaign toward Claire from step at the moment because she dared to gain weight and say she liked it ,rolls eyes.

Ephiny · 14/09/2012 15:51

There seems to be a very small (non-existent?) range of acceptable weights for women in the public eye, if you're not too fat you're too thin (or have fat ankles or something Hmm). It's ridiculous really.

MrDobalina · 14/09/2012 15:58

well said badgerina

limitedperiodonly · 14/09/2012 18:12

gordy Lots of female journalists are obsessed with the weight of female celebrities because they're deeply unhappy with their own bodies and vicious about those of others whether they are thin, fat or in the middle.

That translates onto the pages in endless boring shit about diets, exercise, 'healthy eating' (oh, how I hate that description) and body insecurities to the extent that female celebrities who aren't particularly fussed about their shape have to make stuff up to get through the interview.

hopkinette · 14/09/2012 19:35

YABU. I have no idea why you care how much anyone else weighs. It's got fuck all to do with you.

Mintyy · 14/09/2012 19:44

In the Daily Fail photos she looks quite underweight. You can see all her tendons her joints look abnormally large. She looks unhealthy. She looks older than her actual age.

I find it very distressing that anyone can think she looks "gorgeous" whilst the middle aged, balding, sweaty, leering Glenister brother looks "hot".

The double standards - what is seen to be attractive in men and women in your post NCfornow - really depress me.

Mintyy · 14/09/2012 19:52

It is very important to get the general message out there that being too thin is extremely dangerous. You can carry on for years and years and years, probably to your full life expectancy of 80+ as a woman if you are a bit chubby (say up to 2 stone overweight).

Being morbidly obese is dangerous.

Being obese is dangerous in the long term.

Being underweight is problematical if you want to conceive.

Being very underweight is disastrous and 20% of anorexics will die as a result of their disorder.

SuperTressy · 14/09/2012 20:35

I always think she looks very elegant. She certainly knows how to dress for her shape.

Just out of interest Bogeyface, how do you know this is not her natural size/weight?

PretzelTime · 14/09/2012 20:38
BlueMoon74 · 14/09/2012 20:40

Being that thin makes her look considerably older than 38 imo. She looks ill bless her.

limitedperiodonly · 14/09/2012 20:50

I'm sure the very thin will appreciate your concern mintyy and bluemoon.

Bless you both

Mintyy · 14/09/2012 21:41

The point is, limitedperiodonly, is that she isn't naturally that thin.

MrDobalina · 14/09/2012 21:48

what do you mean by 'naturally'?

Mintyy · 14/09/2012 22:12

What do you think I mean by 'naturally'?

bogeyface · 14/09/2012 22:20

It isnt natural to have your bones and joints jutting out under stretched skin unless you are very ill or a famine victim. It isnt natural to have your eyes popping out or your teeth looking slightly too big for your face because there isnt a layer of fat under the skin to pad it out. As I said, Donna Air is slimmer than EF in those DM pictures and looks far healthier and more natural.

It isnt about her size as such, but about the fact that she is too thin for her body type and that isnt healthy. If me being concerned about the health of someone who could well be following an unhealthy stereotype because of the job she is in, then shoot me, I dont care. And yes, she should be aware that perpetuating the skinny ideal isnt a good role model. Anyone in the public eye should be aware that they could be affecting young men and women, and act accordingly.

Katiekitty · 14/09/2012 23:01

I agree with Bogey.
Well said.

OTheHugeManatee · 14/09/2012 23:19

She could do with a sandwich, yes.
