Thorpe Park at the weekend. Fairly busy - but there was an abundance of couples there without kids.

I don't mind rollercoasters/rides etc. I'll go on them with the DCs. But never in a million years would me and DH go to one our own for a day out.

I'd feel bloody daft. Standing in a queue with my backpack and cagoul, and a bunch of excited kids surrounding us.

Even worse - adults who go to Disneyland without kids. Someone I work with went to Eurodisney on her honeymoon.

Flame me. Go on.

I love theme parks (well alton towers) haven't been since had ds but we used to go with groups of friends. If you liked rollercoasters then you would prob enjoy it more.

and I sleep naked and have a penchant for bondage Grin. I have a pretty sacha bag and about 30 pairs of high heels (although have those ballet type things for bombing round with ds and wellies for when we go out int countryside. But if I went to a theme park would most likely wear flats just as you end up walking miles throughout the day.

the other bonus of being a grown up at theme parks is going in the school term on a weekday - it's quiet and no fucking queues!

oops double post! Sorry

I might be cat, depends....

Chopstheduck · 10/09/2012 14:15

I went to Thorpe Park with dh while the kids were at school once, we got the free tickets from the newspaper. Then when dd and ds1 were old enough, we took them for a birthday treat.

We had much more fun on our own! The kids kept wimping out and moaning. Thorpe park is def more of an adult theme park. I wouldn't do Disney or something like that wihtout kids though.

AnnaFender · 10/09/2012 14:23

I love theme parks and left the DC with a babysitter last time I went to Alton Towers.

Also, I play computer games fir living so ner []

AnnaFender · 10/09/2012 14:24

I have been to Disney without kids, 4 days in Paris. It was bloody ace. Term time so hardly any queues, no kids needing feeding, whining, carrying etc etc. I went on all the rides, from dumbo to space mountain. I even bought a mini mouse balloon. Yes I'm a big kid really, so what?
I've since done Disney Paris with 2 kids in tow and it was bloody hard work and not nearly as much fun for me, although it was lovely seeing it all through the kids eyes.

CaptainHetty · 10/09/2012 15:52

I love theme parks. Me and my sister regularly go without kids. Usually for our birthdays... I also love my xbox 360.

Yep I'm a big kid, don't see how that really has any bearing on anyone else or their enjoyment of a day out.

cat · 10/09/2012 16:50

Play computer games for a living? Shock

What - are you a game tester or summink? DS1 would be well jel

Oh, BIL and new SIL are going to Disneyland Florida for their honeymoon with no DC! I think it's mad only cos honeymoons are all about shagging and lying on beaches drinking things with umbrellas in them, no?

They're actually not planning on having kids (She keeps talking about when she will let him have the snip Grin) and I think this is their chance to 'be a kid?'

Alternatively, I will suggest they take my three to DL and then they can have the Full Kid Experience Grin

halcyondays · 10/09/2012 16:56

Yabu. AFAIK, Thorpe Park is nearly all big rides. I won't go on anything remotely scary, but I would quite happily go on the carousel, teacups etc, with or without kids.

Hulababy · 10/09/2012 17:09

Many adults do enjoy roller coasters and big rides so YABU. Or are grown ups only allowed days out at national Trust Properties these days?

We actually do have DD with us at theme parks, but I have certainly been pre children - places like Alton Towers.

TuesdayNightClub · 10/09/2012 17:52

We went to Disney and Universal Studios in California as part of our honeymoon. Didn't realise I was a total freak, so, thanks for letting me know OP.

manicinsomniac · 10/09/2012 18:08

YABU.

On the (v rare) occasion that I go with my kids to a themepark I get stuck on the carousel and the river rapids all day and keep having to stop for the toilets/drinks/lunch. Yawn!

On the (less rare) occasion that I go with my friends we can dash between the big thrill rides all day with no stopping.

No contest!

AnnieLobeseder · 10/09/2012 18:10

YABU. Why on earth would I want to go to a theme park with kids, unless it was Legoland?

My good mate and I went to Thorpe Park kid free for our birthday last year. Best day out ever!

Bunbaker · 10/09/2012 18:13

I went to Disneyland (yes the original one in California) when I was 27 and OH was 34. We loved it.

GoldShip · 10/09/2012 18:22

YABU!

Me and my DP love Alton towers. We've booked for the Halloween Scarefest :o
