Thorpe Park at the weekend. Fairly busy - but there was an abundance of couples there without kids.

I don't mind rollercoasters/rides etc. I'll go on them with the DCs. But never in a million years would me and DH go to one our own for a day out.

I'd feel bloody daft. Standing in a queue with my backpack and cagoul, and a bunch of excited kids surrounding us.

Even worse - adults who go to Disneyland without kids. Someone I work with went to Eurodisney on her honeymoon.

Flame me. Go on.

See, if you'd said why would you go to theme parks with kids I could understand.

cat · 10/09/2012 13:41

Enjoy your mickey ears Chesty. And make sure you get to the front of the queues before those pesky kids Wink

Use elbows if necessary

I have an allergy to all things Disney, and do not understand why grown people want to have their photo taken with Mickey Mouse ( yes SIL, and display on shelf)

However I can see the attraction of a theme park with rides...I am not averse to a Waltzer Grin especially manned by a David Essex lookalike.

Dcs have never been to a theme park [I am an evil negligent mother]

cornishsue our first trip to Florida was after our missed mc to clear our minds and have fun so I kind of understand your upset.

Don't let it get to you though the op started the thread as a wind up because coming on anonymous forums and goading others is way way more mature and much much more fun than those saddos who enjoy thrill rides whilst not bothering others.

ChestyNut · 10/09/2012 13:44

Too right cat I'm not adverse to pinching a child or two to make them let me through either Grin

Softlysoftly · 10/09/2012 13:46

Xpost with op saying it was lighthearted, so fine as you were

cat · 10/09/2012 13:47

Blimey softly. I already apologised to cornishsue.

But I do apologise for abusing the t'interweb and using it for issues that are not deadly serious/heart wrenching/life threatening

Hmm

BeeBee12 · 10/09/2012 13:50

yabu I love stuff like that.Me and dh saw finding nemo on the premiere day and everyone else had kids.

Doesnt bother me though thats one of the great things about havinh kids so you can rub round fun houses, go to butlins and theme parks.

cat · 10/09/2012 13:50

'cept you're probs too busy queueing for Nemisis with your backpack and sandals

Crocs my love crocs, they dry off better after the swan pedalos and look so pretty.

oldraver · 10/09/2012 13:52

I have some friends who are currently on Honeymoon in Orlando, and a friend who has gone for three weeks (with her Deal or No Deal winnings). Both couples are 'fairly normal'

My folks go to Disney on their own they are a bit puddled

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 10/09/2012 13:53

I love rides.

Am I weird?

cat · 10/09/2012 13:54

crocs are the shoes of champions

choceyes · 10/09/2012 13:55

I'm sorry but I just get my head around anyone going to Disneyland without kids (I wouldn't even do it with kids, poor deprived kids). Not even if its an all expenses paid thing. There are a million other places I'd rather go on holiday!

Softlysoftly · 10/09/2012 13:57

Not in fact the shoes of people who have given up and sunk into comfy?

Ooook then

choceyes · 10/09/2012 13:57

meant to say, if its an all expenses paid thing, I would take the kids to disneyland, not otherwise.

OddGoldBoots · 10/09/2012 13:58

Thorpe Park in particular is designed for those older, there are very few kiddie rides as we found to our cost taking our children there. If it were Gullivers or Legoland you might have a point.

cat · 10/09/2012 13:59

I have a George Pig jibbitz on my right croc.

DH has Sponge Bob Square Pants on his left.

I am in the same situation as Cornish Sue, and starting a thread like this is a bit twattish. There are plenty of people who may never have had the chance to go to a theme park before, who dont have kids for many reasons, so why even look at anyone else and wonder why they are there? I just dont get that at all.

JeremyKylesPetProject · 10/09/2012 14:04

If this isn't aimed at adults (in Thorpe Park incidentally) then I dunno what is.

Startailoforangeandgold · 10/09/2012 14:07

If I'd lived near a theme park and had babysitting I'd certainly go.

Went to a huge water park in the States while trying to conceive DD1.

I'm 44, I lived in rural nowhere with no money, as a child, why the hell should the DDs have all the fun.

maddening · 10/09/2012 14:09

I love theme parks (well alton towers) haven't been since had ds but we used to go with groups of friends. If you liked rollercoasters then you would prob enjoy it more.

and I sleep naked and have a penchant for bondage Grin. I have a pretty sacha bag and about 30 pairs of high heels (although have those ballet type things for bombing round with ds and wellies for when we go out int countryside. But if I went to a theme park would most likely wear flats just as you end up walking miles throughout the day.

the other bonus of being a grown up at theme parks is going in the school term on a weekday - it's quiet and no fucking queues!
