She starts going out with her step brother?

notsofrownieface · 10/09/2012 05:15

I haven't watched it in years, but wasn't he her ex-step brother because his mum and her dad split?

Hmm must dig it out, I haven't watched that film in ages Smile

GlitterPinkRubberDucky · 10/09/2012 06:11

Nah not creepy its sweet, its her ex step brother and their respective parents broke up ages ago.

GlitterPinkRubberDucky · 10/09/2012 06:13

Also just fyi elton is now the dad in surbubgatory!

ScumbagCollegeDropout · 10/09/2012 06:19

And as the dad in Suburgatory he goes out with Alicia Silverstone for a couple of episodes.

But no Op, not creepy for the reasons stated above.

CailinDana · 10/09/2012 06:34

Nah, they make it pretty clear that their parents weren't married for long so they never actually lived as brother and sister.

It's intended to mirror the relationship between Emma and Knightley in Emma - sort of a brother/sister relationship because their families are close.

LowRegNumber · 10/09/2012 06:34

It is made clear in the film that the parents were only married for a short time but I did have a little uncomfortable moment watching it the first time too.

GlitterPinkRubberDucky · 10/09/2012 06:34

Nooo does he?? That's great! We haven't got that far yet in the uk.

margerykemp · 10/09/2012 06:39

The age gap is slightly creepy too. She is 15 and he is 21 ish.

Pontouf · 10/09/2012 06:47

THAT's WHO HE IS!!! I've been watching suburb story trying I work out where I know the Dad from! Thanks Ducky

MrsKeithRichards · 10/09/2012 07:14

Still creepy!

SpottyTeacakes · 10/09/2012 07:16

What film?? The stupid app has cut the title off!

MrsKeithRichards · 10/09/2012 07:17

The cinematic masterpiece that is Clueless

SpottyTeacakes · 10/09/2012 07:18

Thanks Smile been ages since I watched that

akaemmafrost · 10/09/2012 07:19

I loved Elton, a very under appreciated character imo.

MrsKeithRichards · 10/09/2012 07:22

Also a bit creepy though.
Looked about 30 to her 15

Now Travis, he's more my type!

Urm...I used to be involved with my step brother Blush

Well, our parents never actually married (although are still together) and we met when I was 18 and he was 25 so never lived together with our parents and in fact both lived independently when we met...so definitely never felt like family!

CleoSmackYa · 10/09/2012 11:08

I always thought it was weird, even though it isn't makes no sense

GlitterPinkRubberDucky · 10/09/2012 11:16

My favourite character was murray! Love the bit where he shaves his head and dione freaks out!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 10/09/2012 11:18

But isnt that what happens in Emma? Isnt that the point?

ErikNorseman · 10/09/2012 13:28

'you were hardly even married to his mother and that was 5 whole years ago!'
YABU they weren't really step siblings. He is supposed to have just started at college so 18-19 and she is 15-16. Not as bad as the real Emma and knightley as he was about 20 when she was born and watched her grow up! Totally not weird in Austen land.

Extrospektiv · 10/09/2012 13:30

YABU

The Butterfly Effect on late night after the Paralympics ended, though... very creepy and very triggering

Lovecat · 10/09/2012 13:32

Oh, the Butterfly Effect gave me the shudders, Extrospektiv...

StuntGirl · 10/09/2012 13:32

Noooo you cannot say anything bad about Clueless! In fact I may go watch it again now...
