To think that if you MUST burp in public...

you don't also need to ANNOUNCE what it was that you ate to make you burp!?

Honestly...I have a bit of a "thing" about people burping...I hate it...if I need to do it, then I suppress it a bit...you know...do it subtly.

Some people seem to think it's ok to burp loudly and then say "Onions."

or "Whoops! That must be the cheese n onion toastie I had at lunch"

GROSS!!!!

AIBU to think this is extremely poor manners?

I have suffered this TWICE today with different people..one was a client and the other was a random stranger in a shop.

I hate it, not people burping (unless they do the whole ultra loud thing) but the whole declaration thing. What's wrong with a quiet "pardon me"? It's like people who fart and then tell everyone. We all do it, you're not special.

NCForNow · 07/09/2012 18:39

We DON'T say "Pardon me" on Mumsnet Lurked

Not ever!

My boyfriend burps and then says, very loudly "Said the king!"

My DH says "Speech!" (Don't know why...) But it's at home - I'd be mortified in public.

I have a girlfriend who burps loudly in public. She says nothing at all - she just expects everyone to accept "it's just how I roll". Hmm

YANBU, how revolting. I HATE it when people burp so loudly it sounds like an earthquake or some such. it makes me feel sick.
