Local secondary school, very traditional, some would say strict. Some of the girls have been lobbying for a relaxation of uniform to allow them to wear trousers like the boys.

It's been totally relaxed. Skirts are now off the uniform list, trousers are in - as are blazers and ties (like the boys) where as they used to wear open necked blouse/shirts and cardigan.

That's what I call true equality. Take away all choice and neutralise gender.

Ha! I their HT, can you imagine the wailing when they learned they had to trash those hideous pube grazers hypocrite now old some of them wear.

LaurieFairyCake · 06/09/2012 18:17

I wouldn't send my child to a school that didn't have trousers for girls. In yr 7 dd got to run around playing football like the boys with no thought for being a 'girl'.

There is nothing more depressing than watching the girls grow up and become so increasingly self conscious and uncomfortable in their own bodies.

TheMonster · 06/09/2012 18:18

The school I work in is trousers only for students.

JamieandOscarSittinginATree · 06/09/2012 18:18

Sorry I didn't mean that grin. I don't think it's funny at all. I don't think equality is unreasonable. I don't think it's unreasonable for girls to wear trousers or blazers

I have a wry sense of humour - in summer they will be trussed up like a turkey.

My dd (year 7) would be very upset. She only wears trousers for dance. She hates trousers and finds them uncomfortable.

Tiredandgrumpy2 · 06/09/2012 18:48

Gender neutralised. I like it. Expensive for mums thoSad

parakeet · 06/09/2012 19:03

Oh yes, that's what us feminists want: complete gender neutralisation and choice abolition.
