Without her coming with ladders and holes in them she is in P7 now and so far I have had to replace 3 pairs GAH!

What sort of tights are they? If you mean the skin colour ones, then YABU, they are bastards.

madbengal · 05/09/2012 17:50

Nope I wouldnt mind them these are 80 denier thick 1's, I wear them and they are indesctructable lol, I have caught mine a good lot of times and they dont ladder just sort of bobble (not very good explanation i know)

Even the teacher said to me she doesnt know what she does to tights at the meet the teacher thing today

Bunbaker · 05/09/2012 17:50

Why doesn't she wear trousers then?

McHappyPants2012 · 05/09/2012 17:55

i would send her in socks or trousers. Have you got shares with the tight company lol

NettOlympicSuperstar · 05/09/2012 17:58

Primark.
DD wanted skirts with tights this year, and they are a pain for laddering, but I buy the cheap ones.
I have tried expensive ones of course, but they still ladder, or DD ladders them, so the cheap ones are best for now.

madbengal · 05/09/2012 17:58

she does wear trouser but BEGGED for a skirt, so when she doesnt have PE she could wear the bloody skirt and tights

I explained about playing etc and how she would have to be a lady (yeah right) wearing it, she was all yes mum etc well that agreement lasted not LOL

OP posts:
madbengal · 05/09/2012 17:59

trousers even

Freshletticiaandslugs · 05/09/2012 18:00

YABU, she should be changing them for clean ones every day. yuk.

madbengal · 05/09/2012 18:00

Live and learn huh

Primark here I come thanks Nett :-)

If they're thicker ones, can you not stitch them? my mum used to with mine but they were almost like wool so stitched easily

Bunbaker · 05/09/2012 18:01

I think the OP intends to wash them between wears. 80 denier tights should last for more than one wear (with washes in between wears).

DeepPurple · 05/09/2012 18:05

Fresh i think the op is intending to wash them but they are ruined before she has chance Grin

crashdollGOLD · 05/09/2012 18:05

Oh blimey, they are practically leggings!

madbengal · 05/09/2012 18:05

Thanks yes I wash in between

If she had left the whole alone then yup sewn but nope each pair has been either pulled so a massive 3 inch ladder (this pair) or she has binned them hoping I wouldn't notice washing a skirt without pairs of tights,

am thinking of the over knee socks tbh and see if they fare any better

NarkedRaspberry · 05/09/2012 18:07

Rough bits under her desk/table or on chair legs?

MmeDefarge · 05/09/2012 18:09

You do know that laddered tights are fashionable among teenagers and very young women now?

Is she maybe doing it on purpose to look cool?

NettOlympicSuperstar · 05/09/2012 18:12

Woolly ones won't ladder but if she's like my DD, she won't be seen dead in them!
I'm just going for the gazillion pairs of Primark tights and hoping when the weather turns colder she'll ask for trousers.
And yes, DD bins them too, which is bloody annoying, as I'm not cross at them getting laddered, I am cross when she announces at 8.30am she has no tights as they are all laddered and in the binAngry

Mrsjay · 05/09/2012 18:12

Pain isn't it Id get her woolly ones and tell her she can wear those until she can keep her other pairs good, dd2 is awful for tights I get hers in primark

Wooly ones OMG just told her the look of disgust

MaliKat · 05/09/2012 19:45

Wher are the holes/ladders? If its the back of the legs it's probably because it's catching on the seat of the chairs. I remember this happening all the time (and getting in trouble for it!) and there was not a lot you could do to stop it. Give her small thing of clear nail varnish to paint on the hole so it doesn't tear.

Caerlaverock · 05/09/2012 19:51

Stop buying them

legobuilder · 05/09/2012 19:53

it probably is long legs under crap tables, or wall/chair catching on them. tell her to watch out for it, and put her cardy on her knees before tucking under desk/ under legs for sitting on wall?

NCForNow · 05/09/2012 19:57

"Have to be a lady"

Hmm
