DH phones on way home from work and casually mentions his mate is coming over after work.
Great I think - its DS's 1st day back to school tomorrow , Ive got to bath both kids & wash & dry their hair. New uniform needs ironing & names putting in, bag packing etc.
I'd made a dinner that created loads of washing up - dishwasher was finished & needed emptying.
I've not stopped all day Ive done food shop at 2 supermarkets, picked up Dh's new trainers in town, taken DS to skateboard shop, unloaded & put away shopping, took kids to park & water park, taken DS to hairdressers, cooked dinner
He then comes in opens trainers , goes for shower, his mate comes in 7pm, the kids always get hyped up when he's here so they're driving me crazy while I'm trying to get all the stuff done I need to.
DH then comes & asks ' where's my boxers?'
& I snap .. Do you want me to come find them for you !
This gave him the arseache and only then , when I finished all my chores did he say, is there anything you want me to do before I go out?!
FFS, grrrrr grrrr
Don't even know if any of that makes sense just needed to rant!

I'm not surprised you've got the hump! I think I may have torn him a new arsehole!!!

JumpingThroughMoreHoops · 04/09/2012 21:30

TBH, why are you
(a) sewing labels the day before school?
(b) food shopping on a Monday when pay day is usually end of month
(c) Trudging round skate board shops the day before school?
(d) Hair cuts day before school?
(e) making a meal that needs a lot of washing up?

the kids always get hyped up when he's here why? is it unusual for him to be there?

Really you should prioritise better rather than having a last minute rush of everything that could have been accomplished last week.

disclaimer I say this as The Queen of Last Minute Hysteria Grin so I love sorting out other peoples lives Grin

Namechangegalore · 04/09/2012 21:33

I agree with jumping, you are making things difficult for yourself. Not saying your dh isn't being an arse, but a lot of those things could have been done a few days ago.

devonsmummy · 04/09/2012 21:47

I was ironing in labels whilst ironing the uniform today as I like it to be just washed & just ironed so it smells lovely & fresh

I was food shopping , on a TUESDAY (lol), so I had food for school lunches (busy weekend no time to do then)

Skateboard shop is DS's reward for good behaviour ( amazingly the promise of a visit has him behaving !)

Haircut today as our hairdresser was on holiday & back to work today

Made a meal that involved lots of washing up (cos I'm silly!) we had pizza hut for lunch yesterday & cereal for dinner so felt I'd better feed them today! Grin

They get hyped cos he always brings kinder eggs.

so what did you want him to do tonight? because you seem to have already done it all already..

presumably you didnt HAVE to take the kids to a water park when you were already so busy, nor did you need to cook a gourmet meal either..

if a kid is old enough to be on a skateboard, then I would have thought them capable of emptying a dishwasher too..

WorraLiberty · 04/09/2012 21:50

I think YABVU

Who goes round sniffing school children anyway?

Unless you buy a 3ltr bottle of fabric softener for something like 37p, they'd still smell fresh if you washed them a week ago.

IvanaNap · 04/09/2012 21:58

I want a visiting friend who gives me kinder eggs Envy

OP you seem a bit stressed. Have a cup of cocoa and get to bed, you've earned it.

JumpingThroughMoreHoops · 04/09/2012 21:59

is it Tuesday? oh thank God .... one day closer to the weekend!

i also want a kinder egg visiting friend, but you do sound like youve been running round like a blue assed fly! id of had to spread it out abit, have a hot choc and go for a snooze. im jealous youve ironed labels in ive just written on the ones already in, and im out of hot choc!

WorraLiberty · 04/09/2012 22:08

Hold on, how long was this mate here for if your DH went out with him?

I can understand you leaving a lot of the things to the last minute if you're a working Mum...I assume you are?

But I don't understand you choosing to leave all that to the last minute and then moaning that your DH's mate has popped round for a little while on their way out for the evening? Confused

alphabite · 04/09/2012 22:11

He might have had a hard day at work too.

nolembit · 04/09/2012 23:02

YANBU, your DH changed the goalposts at the last minute and you have every right to feel annoyed. However, I would have told my DH that as x,y,z had to be done before tomorrow then it would be better if his friend visited on another night. It is also very presumptive of him to not check that you are happy to be left at home to supervise the children while he goes out - they are his chilldren as well and you are not the hired help.

LadyWidmerpool · 05/09/2012 03:59

I'm confused about the being paid/shopping thing. Should we only get food in once a month?

Thumbwitch · 05/09/2012 04:06

He was inconsiderate. He should have checked that it was convenient, or actually, just made the effort to remember that it probably wasn't convenient, for the friend to come round.

Don't get the bit about buying food on a monday, or even a tuesday, that's just weird Confused - I go to the supermarket about 3 or 4 times a week.

Yokel · 05/09/2012 04:06

Sorry OP, I think you're overdoing things. If you took your DS to the hairdressers, how come you've also got to wash and dry his hair just a few hours later? And if he's old enough for a skateboard, isn't he old enough to bath himself?

Chill out a bit. Have a Kinder egg.
