To have such hatred for certain words? Which words make you shudder?

Am I unreasonable to hate the words

Congealed

Treacherous (think that's the right spelling)! I know the meaning of this word isn't nice so can kind of see why I don't like it, but I cringe when I hear it!

Which words do you hate?

Wow there are some great words coming up here, which I really wouldn't expect. I love treacherous, discombobulate and masticate - they just roll off the tongue in a fabulous manner. I also grossly over-use awesome.

Belly, however, is just odd, I really dislike it too. If I wanted to order slow roasted belly of pork in a restaurant, I would just say "the pork" and hope it was the only pork option available Grin

squoosh · 04/09/2012 14:59

Love the word belly, it sounds so grab-able and wobbly.

Tomorrowslookingfine · 04/09/2012 15:03

Also, 'Amazeballs' I don't know where it has come from but I wish it would go away.

i mean as it to describe a consistancy. i dont mind if people say loose clothes

KellyElly · 04/09/2012 16:07

Smug. People who describe themselves as 'smug' make me want to slap them Grin. Oh and panties, that word makes me shudder.

Latara · 04/09/2012 16:14

C*nt... Often preceded by the adjective 'fucking'. I hate the word so much i can't even type it.
& i know lots of MNers actually use it a lot; but to me it's just offensive to women.

Oh yes; & if i ever read a book where the author refers to a woman's vagina as 'her sex' then it gets returned !!

Does anyone in real life use the word 'sex' in that context?? No. So stop it bad authors; stop it now!!

The Queen called her mother 'Mummy' to the end.

My children called me 'Mummy' until their twenties and then it became Mu u u um!

Oh. And my sister called our mother Mummy until she died (sister) aged 60.
