Am I unreasonable to hate the words

Congealed

Treacherous (think that's the right spelling)! I know the meaning of this word isn't nice so can kind of see why I don't like it, but I cringe when I hear it!

Which words do you hate?

I know OP was looking for words as oppose nicknames!! However I have just spent a particularly testing and trying shift with at least ten of the above per minute, so please humour me...

CogitoErgoSometimes · 04/09/2012 14:09

Not a word, that random hollow drum sound that is on every reggae record ever released and also features in the QI theme tune. Hate it.

SmellyFartado · 04/09/2012 14:12

Flange
Spittle
Masticate

Angry
Nancy66 · 04/09/2012 14:15

discombobulate

not a word you hear often, admittedly, but when I do it makes me all itchy

littlemisssunny · 04/09/2012 14:18

creepy I'm certainly not rich, and don't hear these words regularly! Mostly on a weather forecast in winter! (not congealed obviously!)

I am ooop north in a Yorkshire town and trust me it's more like your description of what you hear!!

Why do people always say moist is a horrible, shudder inducing word? t's a bloody brilliant word. Most things benefit from being moist, vaginas, cakes, plants, lipsticks.

ISpyPlumPie · 04/09/2012 14:21

Tummy esp when used with reference to an adult.

Nancy66 · 04/09/2012 14:27

i also hate hearing anyone over 12 say 'mummy' or 'daddy'

Housewife2010 · 04/09/2012 14:28

Even Prince Charles?

Nancy66 · 04/09/2012 14:29

yes, even him.

Housewife2010 · 04/09/2012 14:29

BTW I hate "kids", "cute" & "serviette"!

squoosh · 04/09/2012 14:32

Adults saying 'Mummy' or 'Daddy' is completely creepy and vom inducing.

TheProvincialLady · 04/09/2012 14:32

Housewife2010 I'm with you on serviette. Beyond vile.

MadameOvary · 04/09/2012 14:33

I'm doing online dating and if a man describes himself as a "chap" it makes my teeth itch. Another one described himself as "fairly active" - he was 35 Confused

Peeenut · 04/09/2012 14:35

Blouse

Nancy66 · 04/09/2012 14:35

I quite like 'chap' it has an old fashioned ring to it.

Vagaceratops · 04/09/2012 14:38

I am with threesocksmorgan - I hate belly.

mamamibbo · 04/09/2012 14:40

tits

Kelbells · 04/09/2012 14:46

'moist'..... I once went on a date with a man called 'Mr Moist'.... I didn't find out until halfway through the date and I'm ashamed to say I couldn't bring myself to go out with him again... I kept fast forwarding to the future and the thought of being Mrs Moist! He was a secondary school teacher... Why would you put yourself through the cruelty of teenagers like that! Wink

floradix · 04/09/2012 14:48

I hate the saying 'he walks the walk'.
