MIL has decided the children need one of those big garden trampolines they are 10 (with asd) 3,2 and 7 months so she is getting them one for christmas, which is very generous

but i dont like them, i think they are dangerous

apparently i should be grateful she wants to spend that amount of money one them and accept the gift as that would be ungrateful and its stupd,i "cant wrap them in cotton wool, they wouldnt sell them if they were dangerous"

YANBU - it is too difficult to police. I think they are great if only one child goes on at a time and they don't do silly stunts on it but how easy is that to enforce unless you spend your whole life in the garden supervising? All the people I know who have them seem to let any amount of kids on them. I really worry about back and neck injuries. The netting only protects them from falling off it.

I'd love to get a trampoline for the DC but YANBU, you aren't the only person who thinks they aren't a good idea and you're entitled to say no. It's very rude of your MIL to insist that she buys one - whose house and whose DC are they?! I'd get your DH to put his foot down.

yanbu. grandparents made the rules with there own kids parents make the rules for there children.

i hate the bloody things but i may be biased as i cant jump on one without peeing myself

We've never had an accident on our trampoline but eldest dislocated her knee standing up on the bus, 18 yr old broke his arm playing football, 14 yr old broke his foot jumping on his friend's back and is just getting over an eye injury when the plonker poked himself with his toothbrush and 11 yr old hurt her ribs falling off her bike. 7 year old uses the trampoline daily and is yet to sustain an injury.

So glad I have one, the kids love it and it burns off lots of excess energy.

Lots of things are dangerous if you dont follow safety rules.
