he has done so much damage so far, I am really hoping he gets his walking papers.... even the devil we don't know has got to be better surely....

We can dream.

Can't imagine it will happen though. Sadly.

noblegiraffe · 02/09/2012 14:12

I'm hoping this too. Or that he gets moved somewhere less dangerous like Culture or Justice.

I would be so happy to see him go. He has done so much damage and lied through his teeth - he was behind the GCSE English fiasco, I'm sure of it.

FelicitywasSarca · 02/09/2012 14:17

He is behind every single education fiasco of the last few years.

The man is a menace.

But Cameron loves him, I think he's unlikely to go (too powerful).

We can all dream though...

BlackTieNTails · 02/09/2012 14:27

If he got justice, he'd probably bring back the stocks.

we can only hope

Waitforit · 02/09/2012 15:16

The thought that this might happen has made the prospect of going back to work next week (teacher) a lot more appealing. Also the rumour is that David Laws will be back. Ignoring the fiddling expenses for your gay lover business, I actually think he's one of the few ok politicians out there. He was education spokesman before the election so the possibility that he might be education sec is quite pleasing. Doubt it will actually happen though!

changeforthebetter · 02/09/2012 15:20

Oh please - however, Govey is a nasty, conniving shit with an eye on the big prize (he loves all the Daily-Fail-headline-grabbing stuff). He'd only agree to a promotion which could be even worse (though effing around with the education of an entire generation is pretty dire

Knackerelli · 02/09/2012 15:26

I have my fingers and toes crossed that he'll be shuffled elsewhere. I really cannot stand the man and the damage that he has done to the education system is shocking. But, as he is BFF with Dave, I would be surprised Sad

EllenParsons · 02/09/2012 17:18

I like Gove but Hmm at the suggestion that justice is something "less important".

noblegiraffe · 02/09/2012 17:23

Don't know why you put "less important" in quotes, Ellen, as what I actually said was "less dangerous".

And it was a deliberate choice, I'm a teacher :)

lovebunny · 02/09/2012 17:41

all together:
"gove must go!
gove must go!
gove must, gove must, gove must go!"

GreenD · 02/09/2012 17:52

I think Gove is doing a good job. Schools have been shit in this country for too long, and the teachers are just concerned with themselves.

MigratingCoconuts · 02/09/2012 17:57

Love you too Green!!

FelicitywasSarca · 02/09/2012 17:58

Hahahahaha Green, best joke I've heard all day. Irony is brilliant.

epeesarepointythings · 02/09/2012 18:00

Won't happen - he's the golden boy.

Worse luck.

And GreenD I think saying schools are shit is a very simplistic way of putting it. I think the problem is twofold:

  1. Schools have been a political football for the past 20 years, with no regard for children and their education
  2. Schools have been left carrying the can for a lot of shit parenting by people who should never have had children.

And before anyone flames me over 2) I think that the UK class system is alive and kicking and to blame for much of 2 - successive governments of both colours have ignored the creeping creation of a social and economic underclass and now we are reaping the consequences.

lovebunny · 02/09/2012 18:00

some schools do have problems, and teachers are (rightly) concerned that they should be treated fairly in the workplace.
but i can't think of one thing gove has done that has or will improve schools for the majority.
perhaps other people can. i'd be happy to be reminded.

Olympicrock · 02/09/2012 18:02

That hadn't even occurred to me! Please let it be so! That stupid man has never even met an child who wasn't middle class

MigratingCoconuts · 02/09/2012 18:02

There was the leather bound king James version of the bible he gave to every single school...that's been really useful Hmm

Waitforit · 02/09/2012 18:02

We've all got a King James now, with a foreword by his lordship himself!

Waitforit · 02/09/2012 18:02

Great minds migrating!

Sorry to be a pain, but I am new to the UK and schooling system and would love to educate myself more about the high level politics that have recently gone on, but struggle to find non party biased info. Can anyone provide a very quick overview of what gove has done? I am so ignorant about it all but feel I should learn for my dcs sake. Blush

noblegiraffe · 02/09/2012 18:12

Unfortunately he's a very good politician and talks a good talk.

I'd rather his political career ended in humiliating scandal but I'd settle for dismal re-election failure.
