To be thrilled that winter is coming?

Today is the first of Sept, and for me that meant a drastic spring clean - everything out cleaned bleached etc, skirting all clean, literally everything done.

That may not seem like a reason to be proud but i am 22W Pg with DC2, and feel really proud of myself for bothering to do it.

Sept also means the drawing in of winter, im looking forward to winter clothes snuggly uggs and hot choc of an eve. Im also looking forward to the possibility that we will have a nice sunny sept / oct. I'm looking forward to DS1s birthday in oct, seeing Sarah Millican in Oct, finishing work In Nov, and meeting DC2 in Dec, enjoying christmas, DP and my own birthdays, our wedding in may.. For me this all starts with toasty winter nights!

So AIBU to genuinely feel thrilled at the change of seasons? And what are you all looking forwards to?

Lighthearted to combat the craziness thats occuring ATM

I hate Winter! Love Spring, Summer and Autumn. I generally need warmth and sunshine. We get too many 'grey sky' days in the Winter and that's what I find hard. I can cope with the cold far more when there is a blue sky, you know those sort of crisp, frosty days, but I detest snow, it is a big white pain in the bottom (unless you don't have to go out).

I love summer but it has seriously lacked this year and I hate waking up to a lovely day and taking the kids out only for it to change and pee down whilst I cant get home and my washing on the line needs doing again!
For this I love the winter months you know exactly what to wear..
Also I love nothing better than early mornings that are clear and frosty but the sun still shining.
Great thread op!

I love this time of year too! So much to look forward to: maternity leave starts on Monday; DS1 starting Year 3 (grown up boy Smile); DS2 arriving at the end of the month; my parents coming over from Geneva; Hallowe'en; Guy Fawkes; DS1's birthday; our best friends having their first baby in December; Christmas!

I bloody HATE January and February though Sad

I think that's it Badgerina, I hate Jan and Feb. At least Nov and Dec there is stuff going on/to look forward to, but Winter is just too long for me.

Glad so many people are looking forward to it all too and so many of you also have lots to look forward to! Smile
my ideal Autumn/ winter days are similar to many of yours, a beautifully crisp but sunny day, wrap DS up warm and head to the park, then home to the warm, movies and snuggles with Dcat who loves to stay in more in the cooler months. Perrrrfect Grin
