Bloody assistant should have warned me before I got to the till! Angry

Aren't they labelled or price marked in the shelf? Mind you, I would have said 'Oh, never mind then, I'll leave it.' when told that price.

CaptainHetty · 30/08/2012 19:10

Holy poop! I thought buying two pairs this morning and paying £65 was bad enough. I think I'd have fainted at £50 for one pair!

Frizzbonce · 30/08/2012 19:10

Hmmm. It is a lot of money - but - I paid £60 for DD's winter boots two years ago. It made my eyes water at the time but the boots are still going strong - no rips or tears and you know how kids treat footwear! I got them a teeny bit big and put insoles in them which is one of the reasons why she's still wearing them comfortably.

So I guess I'm saying yes it is a lot of money to shell out but if they last a long time it's worth it.

OddBoots · 30/08/2012 19:10

That's a lot, they are normally about £35, aren't they?

janelikesjam · 30/08/2012 19:12

Oh, yes its that time of year Sad. Shoe-buying.

OTOH, if you buy a decent pair of shoes it can last 12-18 months.

But £50 is madness methinks ...

LucieMay · 30/08/2012 19:12

So don't buy them? Ask beforehand?

LadySybildeChocolate · 30/08/2012 19:14

There's no price on the box. She brought down one pair which were the same as the ones on the shelf (£35), and a pair which were not. The ones not on the shelf were comfy, so we had these thinking there wouldn't be much of a price difference. Pah! I still have to get him some trainers! Sad JJB for those then.

Clarks usually have a price label in the display shoe, maybe a bloody customer knocked it off

LadySybildeChocolate · 30/08/2012 19:14

There was nothing on any of the boxes, it's sneaky IMO.

I wouldnt pay that for clarks shoes. Rubbish imo.

pigletmania · 30/08/2012 19:16

It's disgusting that they price children's shoes like that, I would not even pay that for my shoes

Marne · 30/08/2012 19:16

I always ask for the price before dd tries them on. We bought shoes for dd2 yesterday and they kept trying to push the more expensive ones on us (saying 'they are a better fit'), i just refused them and asked for the cheaper ones which fit fine. dd's cost £34.

DaniCalifornia · 30/08/2012 19:17

Clarks are so grossly over-priced for what they are.

And, that is just nasty and sneaky.

pigletmania · 30/08/2012 19:18

Yeh Clarks never last, dd demolished a pair in a couple of weeks, got her kickers school shoes slightly bigger, now they are built to last I tell you

FuckityFuckFuck · 30/08/2012 19:19

Bloody hell! I paid £44 for shoes and plimsolls in Clarks and I nearly choked!

I would have fainted if it was £50 for one pair :/

IawnCont · 30/08/2012 19:19

That is terrible. I can't believe no other shop competes properly against Clarks... No one with the foot measuring machine, good selection of sensible shoes and lots of assistants. My children wreck their shoes in no time, Clarks or not, so I buy them at Tesco or TK Maxx.

pigletmania · 30/08/2012 19:20

I payed 40 for a pair of kickers school shoes, dd feet grow slowly and kickers come up larger so I recon she will have them for a while

trikken · 30/08/2012 19:20

the rate ds goes through shoes it wouldn't be worth buying shoes at that price so I just bought him the ten quid ones from asda.

LadySybildeChocolate · 30/08/2012 19:21

The cheaper ones looked very cheap and were tight across the top. There's not a great selection and he's not allowed to wear shoes that are like trainers. Most of the boys wear slip on shoes, but they are not good for ds's feet.

boredandrestless · 30/08/2012 19:22

I would never spend this much on shoes for my DS, I don't understand why people go to CLarks and pay so much. If you want a good quality pair go to Brantanos or Wyndsors.

DS's shoes are all usually supermarket jobbies, or BHS at a push. He has wide feet and I always seem to find him a pair in a nice fit from somewhere.

LadySybildeChocolate · 30/08/2012 19:25

I don't think there's any of those stores here, bored.

HildaHotPants · 30/08/2012 19:26

My dd wouldn't have clarks shoes this time so I let her choose, and have just had some delivered from topshop. They seem very inferior, don't smell leathery even though they are supposed to, and they look cheap. £25!

boredandrestless · 30/08/2012 19:28

KD0706 · 30/08/2012 19:28

Mine are much too young for school yet but I ended up on the Facebook page of a local children's boutique today and saw a baby grow for £65!! And pre walker trainers for £100. Winter coAts for £250. I kept looking through as I was just so shocked that there's a market for these things

Clearly I am a skin flint with my supermarket purchases for my two.

workshy · 30/08/2012 19:29

are they bootleg at that price?

I walked out of Clarks because the only pair that fit my 8yo were £46 -I don't think so!!!
