or, possibly, cutting off bits of my neighbour?
this is not a joke (well, the cutting off bit is). It has been going off, for 15 mins at a time, ALL DAY, and unless something is done, no doubt all night too. There is nobody in, in fact I am pretty sure nobody is even living there at the moment (it's being done up).
What can I do???? (Violence aside).

Is there a telephone number or brand name on the box? Give it a call!

should add that am 11w pregnant, hormonal, nauseous and exhausted and today was meant to be my duvet day... my bedroom overlooks the road and every time the alarm goes off I want to start crying.

I wonder whether you can call the police non-emergency number. I know you'd get into trouble if you tried to stop it yourself, but I think the police might be able to sort it somehow.

I sympathise with you. We went away a while ago and when we returned our neighbour politely informed us that she's heard DP's alarm clock going off every morning at 6:30am. Blush It's one of those crescendo types that gets louder the longer it's on, and it would last an hour every morning. Ooops.

We have to go away more recently and I remembered to tell DP to switch it off. Neighbour popped out to speak to us when she realised we were off away. Grin We let her know it was already off.

Thanks Fry... a small crowd has actually started to gather now with pitchforks I think people are getting back from work and finding it just as godawful as i have all day...

I successfully called the council (um, Environmental Health?) about one of these once. Amazingly someone came within an hour and Made The Noise Stop.

Could have knocked me over with a feather. Had I still been standing after all the noise, of course.

Not suggesting you do this while pregnant - but back in my student days my housemate shinned up a drainpipe and beat a burglar alarm to death with an ice hammer (we were all mountaineers and had such pieces of kit handy). The neighbours all cheered.
