I'm constantly seeing threads on here about people trying to get passports a few days before they go away, surely you could do without this stress?

Fair enough if you have lost your passport or it's been stolen but just to forget to check it's in date??

I may very well get flamed on here but...

I do agree with you but it is easily overlooked tbh. I know a few people that have done it, they've thought they've had another year left on their passport and when they've checked it's expired.

Ahem, I know what you mean BUT a lot of people have sent their passports off for renewal within the specified window for getting them back in time to travel and they've taken longer than that still don't get why you would leave it til the last minute

Passports, tickets, money, suitcases, taxi/lift. Human beings.

The advice is to get them renewed/ordered before booking but people book holidays ages in advance and passports are very expensive, not everyone can afford to get them sorted early.

but for the sake of a few hundred pounds it could mean you have to cancel your holiday? Everyone knows you can't travel out of the country without one...

And you can apply nine months before your passport expires, they add the unexpired time onto the expiry date of your new passport Smile
