There must be more to hate than this...

There must be more to hate han this...

vladthedisorganised · 11/09/2014 09:47

Oh God, it's in an advert now?

Things that annoy me:
Sainsbos (Sainsburys)
Maccy Doodles (Macdonalds)
Hubster
Bubba
Lil Man
Twin-cesses (oh yes)
Jacket/ roast pots
Pud
Chrimbo
Din-dins
Munchers
Snackipoos
Drinkipoos

I save my serious irritation for 'puter, particularly if the offender is an IT ENGINEER FFS. I have to admit to using 'coinage' occasionally though.

LL12 · 11/09/2014 09:56

The one's I cannot stand to hear are:
Marksies
Marks & Sparks
Maccy D's
Spag Bol
Tommy K

It makes me want to scream when I hear someone say these words.

LL12 · 11/09/2014 09:58

Oh, and I forgot:
Sarnie
The word 'Hun' that people keep using on Facebook pages

tobysmum77 · 11/09/2014 10:01

yabu. ffs it is enough to worry about offending people by not being pc. If you don't like what I call tomato ketchup I care not tbh. I'm sure you would irritate me in some way also Wink

LL12 · 11/09/2014 10:07

Defo

SaucyJack · 11/09/2014 10:10

Out of all the zombie threads to dig up and take retrograde offence to......

Bowlersarm · 11/09/2014 10:12

YABU

Spoilsports. I love referring to them as Tommy K and Maccy Ds.

Are all the anti-fond names for products posters those people who insist their DC are always called Montgomery-Sebastian and have a stern word if Monty should dare pass anyone's lips?

Bowlersarm · 11/09/2014 10:13

Oh bugger, didn't notice Saucy. Damn.

Notso · 11/09/2014 10:26

I use Mozzers/Morries,
Sainsbo's,
Tezzies,
Gary's (Aldi, comes from Garibaldi)
Dirty Macca's,
Spag Bol/Spaggy Bollocks,
Brew, Brewskis or Panedd (welsh for cuppa),
biccy,
nim nims (nibbles),
Effing and Geffing,
There's probably more but I can't think, love Johnny Loo Loo. I'm not a nob honest, I don't use a baby voice or owt.

I hate Hubster/Hubby, Bestie, Lil' anything, bubz, meds (especially if it's just calpol), champers/bubbly/fizz/plonk/poo/sparkly, vino and having a munch.

Notso · 11/09/2014 10:27

Effing hell, I read the whole thread an' all.

mrsminiverscharlady · 11/09/2014 10:29

I'm shocked that nobody else has mentioned 'sunnies' for sunglasses. I have heard that repeatedly this summer and it has made me feel homicidal.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 11/09/2014 11:15

I like a lots these too. I'm also from Leeds like a few others on the thread. Seems these two things are linked....

I agree with posters who think this sort of word play shows the richness of the English language :)

Veritata · 11/09/2014 11:16

How is it even a sensible abbreviation? Why use something requiring three syllables when you can call it ketchup or red sauce?

Alisvolatpropiis · 11/09/2014 11:48

Appreciate this is a zombie thread but it has upset me.

I had no idea that there are people who call tomato ketchup "Tommy K".

Annahmolly · 11/09/2014 11:51

That does sound pretty lame, although I don't think I've ever heard it before. It really gets on my nerves when people call it 'red sauce', like when they ask you if you want 'brown or red sauce' on your sausage bap in Starbucks. We don't call mustard yellow sauce, do we? It sounds like baby-talk.
