I have never even heard this before so if someone said this I would not have even been able to work out what they are on about, and had a wtf type reaction, so you have enlightened me now but yanbu it sounds stupid

Dotty P i dont mind, but i wouldnt say it myself

Pandemoniaa · 29/08/2012 19:28

I realise this is an awfully Southern thing to say but I can't be doing with "butties" either when other Southerners use the expression.

EllenParsons · 29/08/2012 19:29

I don't like Tommy K but I don't hear many saying it! My mum does loads of these abbreviations including "strawbs" for strawberries which I particularly hate.

WorraLiberty · 29/08/2012 19:30

'Aspies' is another one that makes me want to kick small kittens

MadamFolly · 29/08/2012 19:37

I do this all the time, shortening words or making up weird pronounciations is a favourite game of mine.

Chicken nuggets = chuggets
Spray deoderant = Gizz (French accent)
Mobile = mobbley

It may drive others nuts but DP does it too well trained and I find it fun.

MadamFolly · 29/08/2012 19:38

Scrambled eggs = scramblies

CaliforniaLeaving · 29/08/2012 19:40

Oh good god I won't be able to understand anyone when I move back to UK at this rate. I'll a translation dictionary.

WorraLiberty · 29/08/2012 19:42

California it'll be Totes Amazeballs

redroof · 29/08/2012 19:43

Isn't this the language of youth, nowadays? A whole new shortened version.
Also, Jel = jealous, totes = totally, etc etc.
Grr!

redroof · 29/08/2012 19:44

Oh Worra. I forgot amazeballs!!

WorraLiberty · 29/08/2012 19:44

Aspergers!

Personally I do not give a flying fuck what anyone says, or how they say it (as long as it's not in earshot)

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 29/08/2012 19:58

MadamFolly - I am sure you are lovely, but I hope you and I never meet! Grin

emsyj · 29/08/2012 20:10

My DMum calls tomatoes tom tit tots Hmm. She also calls Manchester Airport ManAir and it makes me want to poke her eyes out. Grrrr!

I like Tommy K though - I thought it was after some dancing movie star, Tommy Kaye, but I have googled the name and cannot find any such person so I must have made it up Blush. Is there a dancing movie star of old who has a name similar to Tommy Kaye???? Confused

HaggisMcNeeps · 29/08/2012 20:14

I had never heard it before the advert. I thought asda had made it up to sound cool.

CrispyCod · 29/08/2012 20:19
