I thought the smarties thing was because they had a letter on the top of each tube.

But your way makes more sense Bronze

SugarBatty · 29/08/2012 13:53

CookieRookie · 29/08/2012 13:55

That was my thread I started about the flamin yon!

I was crying laughing at it. Will be keeping this one in watched threads too, they're always hilarious.

Lovemy3kids · 29/08/2012 13:55

Thought gite was a place in France until I wa sabout 30 - then Raquel in Coronation Street asked Ken if they could 'go to gite' and everyone laughed..

SugarBatty · 29/08/2012 13:57

Yes really! That game they play in the water shouldn't even be called polo at all! Its nothing like the one with horses.

Lovemy3kids · 29/08/2012 13:59

I have often wondered why it is called water polo.....when its nothing like the game or the sweet!

5inthebed · 29/08/2012 14:00

I thought you were posh if you had a Saintropay tan (like the slebs all seemed to have)...until I saw a bottle labled St Tropez in Boots one day.

WorriedAboutFretting · 29/08/2012 14:01

Until I recently read on here I thought that the channel went from England to France but through the sea Blush

It never occurred to me that they'd actually did under the seaBlushBlushBlush

AfternoonsandCoffeespoons · 29/08/2012 14:01

I think I also learnt that Wombles do not come specifically from Wimbledon Common on that thread, too, cookie. Grin

SugarBatty · 29/08/2012 14:03

And I never knew why the liver birds was called that, I'm just checking but it is because they are from LIVERpool isn't it?

Lovemy3kids · 29/08/2012 14:06

Thats what i always thought Sugar......lets see if someone comes up with something different :)

WorriedAboutFretting · 29/08/2012 14:07

Lovemy3kids · 29/08/2012 14:08

WorriedAboutFretting · 29/08/2012 14:15

Thanks lovemy. I really didn't even slightly know that

Otheregos · 29/08/2012 14:19

Haha this has made my day..I can't believe it's taken me 33 years to realise " only smarties have the answer!" clearly I'm not one of the smarties!

My dh recently at 37 1/2 years of age found out the Edinburgh is spelt like that and not edinborough..what a pair of numpties!

MrsMeow · 29/08/2012 14:21

I used to think that Jim'll Fixit was his name. As in 'Jim'll' rather than Jim.

Same with Kris Akabusi, I thought he was called Chrih Zakabusi.

I blame the lack of Internet as a child Wink

MrsMeow · 29/08/2012 14:22

I never knew the Smarties thing! Every day is a learning day :)

RubberBullets · 29/08/2012 14:24

I've only just worked out that if the loo roll sheets are not lining up, you take one and go round to meet the other and it matches up again.

WhoWhatWhereWhen · 29/08/2012 14:26

When the Falklands were invaded by the Argentinians I thought how the holy hell have they managed to invade an Island just off the coast of Scotland............

HenriettaPootel · 29/08/2012 14:32

Er fretting, you do realise that 'the Channel' is the water bit, not the tunnel, don't you?

HenriettaPootel · 29/08/2012 14:34

(Not that I'm one to talk. The first time I cooked hard boiled eggs, I stood there watching the pan waiting for their shells to come off.)

justmatureenough2bdad · 29/08/2012 14:34

i always thought the wombles were from wimbledon and were awfully common...

also, the old joke runs about the chap who went to his doctor and said his pills weren't working and was told that just because they were called analgesics, didn't mean they weren't taken by mouth.....

yesofficer · 29/08/2012 14:35

Still don't know what IPOAT is Blush
