Boofle am I missing something about this chicken crossing the road?

crackcrackcrak · 31/08/2012 00:23

Wait...explain irn bru?

I had to explain to exp at age 36 (him) that the grey and white seagulls were adults and the speckled ones were chicks. He had only lived here at the seaside his entire life. He excitedly informed his whole family.....

Crying with mirth at flamin' yon!

crazy8 · 31/08/2012 00:33

Just got the smarties one. How stupid am I?

crazy8 · 31/08/2012 00:45

Have just remembered, my DH though a smear was where the nurse/doctor wiped your Fanjo with a tissue.

BumsyClugger · 31/08/2012 01:09

I still refuse to believe that there is no such thing as flamin' yon...

My DP had me and his DSis in tears of laughter once. Both of us were pregnant at the time and were talking about contractions or some such and DP butted in saying they can't be that bad.

ME: You wouldn't understand, you don't have a uterus.
DP: YES I DO!

He then went on to explain that all men had a uterus, they just didn't use it. He honestly thought he had a uterus Hmm He was 26 Grin

Psammead as someone who used to live there I can guarantee you are not the only person who thinks that. I've had Scottish, Greek(!), Australian, Welsh, Irish, New Zealander... Nb. My accent could ONLY be described as English...

I found out today that I've been eating Tic Tacs the wrong way my whole life (or at least most of my life, I'm older than Tic Tacs).

Oh f*ck re Regina. Blush Honestly, I could write a book on Pronunciation According To Too. I hope I don't pass it on to DD when she learns to talk. My sister is the same. I can't pronounce 'caricature' either. I have been told a few times and still can't remember whether you pronounce it 'car-I-ca-ture' or 'CAR-i-ca-ture'. If people tell me how to pronounce words it doesn't go in - I just get more confused and all I remember is that I might mess it up, so I substitute another word instead.

Too it is pronounced as Regeena in America if that helps? I am basing this on the character in Once Upon A Time so hopefully they don't pronounce it unusually on there :o

I found out today that little Jackie Paper brings Puff the Magic Dragon sealing wax. I always thought it was ceiling wax.

CaurnieBred · 31/08/2012 16:12

I thought for years that Andover was in The Netherlands. It is actually in Hampshire. Geography was never my strong point.

When we were attending ante natal classes, DH informed me that he had always thought that pelvic floor exercises were exercises for your pelvis that you did on the floor.

Oh, and would be grateful if someone could tell me if it is "lah"bia or "lay"bia as I have no idea.

WorriedAboutFretting · 31/08/2012 16:33

My brother used to think that a smear test was when they test you're hearing.

I remember my mum saying something like "Oh, I have a smear soon" my brother "Ooh, I want a smear test"

Cue us all laughing and rolling around on the floor.

Disclaimer: He was 15 ish

Otheregos · 31/08/2012 16:36

When explaining to my dh they once the baby was born I'd have to deliver the placenta, he asks 'deliver it where?!' well not the post office you muppet!

WhiteShores · 31/08/2012 16:52

I only just realised some days ago (while singing to my baby) that 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' and the 'ABC' song are the SAME tune! Can't believe I've gone my whole life not knowing that.
