to say that I have the best neighbours

I've come outside this morning and the lovely old fella next door has swept my garden, put my bins out and brought them back, brought his lawnmower round to do my lawn and made me a coffee.

He asked when C is due back and I said he's not coming back, so he's said he will take the dog out for me later so he can get a walk (he knows I can't do it).

My other neighbours have also been very kind with offers of babysitting and any help I need.

Not sure what the purpose of this is but I thought it makes a nice change from the bad neighbour posts! Very much cheered me up!

Who's C?

Congrats.

KenLeeeeeee · 28/08/2012 15:33

That's lovely. They sound like fab neighbours and just what you need.

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 28/08/2012 15:36

Namechangegalore - My ex as of two days ago. Neighbour is shocked by how he has treated me as he gets on with him well and didn't think he would act like he has either.

My next door neighbours did my lawn & bins when my ex left me pg too. Would never move house cos I have really nice neighbours.

squoosh · 28/08/2012 16:20

He?s clearly buttering you up in anticipation of inviting you to the local swinger?s evening.

DanyTargaryen · 28/08/2012 16:22

OH Squoosh!, I just nearly sprayed screen with squash when I read that. Nice to hear that you have such lovely neighbours OP! :)

SPsFanjoSponsoredByFemFresh · 28/08/2012 16:25

My neighbour is 60+ and smokes weed and giggles to herself in the garden while her husband sits in garden. In the warmer days he wears just Speedos Grin

He does bring my bins in though

TraineeBabyCatcher · 28/08/2012 16:25

What a fab neighbour! I hope that Im seen as been such a good neighbour as i help out my neighbour in the same sort of way since her husband died.

I send ds round with a bit of what we bake whenever we bake, i cut her lawn, put the bins in and out (so does another neighbour), made her a hanging basket. I always offer to do other jobs for her but so far she hasnt asked. I know she appriciates it, and often brings ds some rock hom when shes been to the seaside with her family which he just loves!

squoosh · 28/08/2012 16:33

TRaineeBabyCatcher you sound lovely. Cake! Who could ask for better?

digerd · 12/09/2012 13:59

Oh, I am so envious and wish I had such nice neighbours. My neighbours wife suddenly left him when their boys were 16 and 20, but they still didn't talk to him due to a previous incident with his neighbour, and all others took his neighbours side. I moved in later and found the women all nasty, and like birds of a feather they flock together, and I being nice and unassuming I wasn't one of them !!!!!

claraschu · 12/09/2012 14:08

My neighbours take care of my kids, feed us, feed our pets, take us on adventures, fix our boiler and our computer, and just do everything to help without ever counting. I'm so lucky!

CaptainVonTrapp · 12/09/2012 14:38

I have wonderful neighbours who do stuff for us (for eg babysit). We do 'stuff' for them in return.

Hurrah for good neighbours.

We used to have neighbours from hell. They literally made my life a misery.

TunipTheVegemal · 12/09/2012 14:42

My neighbours are generally lovely but the ultimate bit of helpfulness was when I was working away and dh's car wouldn't start on a day when he had an important meeting.
Having tried and failed to jumpstart his car, MrsNeighbour gave him a lift into his work 10 miles away, dropped dd off at nursery, then came home and called the garage to come and fix the car for us!

thunderbird5 · 12/09/2012 16:50

Where do you live? over the rainbow? cos I want to live there too! seriously, where are THESE neighbours and places? so glad SOMEONES got nice neighbours.

SlimJimBra · 12/09/2012 17:25

I have lovely neighbours too :) when my washing machine broke down half way through a wash they washed it all again for me and put it out to dry. The reason they were at home in the day and were able to do that for me was because it was the day before their wedding! Lovely lovely neighbours :)

BlueberryHill · 12/09/2012 18:50

I was about to give you a YABU because I love neighbour disputes, but they sound so lovely YANBU.

jendot · 12/09/2012 19:02

You are wrong.... I have the best neighbours!
Both sides....
One side lovely Family the same age as us with similar age kids... We swap things we have run out of.. Watch each others kids... Have bbqs
The other side are a lovely older couple. They look after the place while we are away, we borrow stuff from each other, swap baking, spend hours gossiping over coffee, help each other out in all sorts of ways.
I couldn't ask for better neighbours.. I hope they never move!

Wouldn't move house as we love our neighbours - we feed and look after their various animals (both neighbours) when they're away. We mow each others lawns, and all our road generally look out for each other - last night, the chap across came over to tell us we'd left the car lights on. My DH called ambulance etc and sat with him when he fell a while ago. Our other old (80+) neighbour scoured the village for my DH when he had left the front door wide open. Grin

Not like our old guitar-singing, loud Elvis-playing nightmare neighbours!!

ratbagcatbag · 12/09/2012 19:13

Awww, I love where I live for exactly the same, theres a group of about six houses on the street where we could go at any time of the day or night and they'd help.
I'm a bit of a wuss in the dark and one evening we had a powercut, my lovely neighbour came straight over with a torch and sat and had chocolate with me whilst we waited for my DH to come back from footy training, her DH stayed with her DD.
My other neighbour was my bridesmaid and when we got married, one did the catering, one did the flowers and four others all got up at 6am to help decorate the hall. They are all awesome. :)
