Hi,

Can I put dirty pram wheels (bugaboo chameleon) in the dishwasher?

I'd clean them before taking photos for eBay! Apart from that, the crusty, muddy look is right for prams.

marge2 · 24/08/2012 11:45

I have washed some dead cuttle fish bones found on the beach in my otherwise empty dishwasher, with no salt or powder in, to wash the salt OFF so I could feed them to our giant african landsnails,

DanyTargaryen · 24/08/2012 11:47

I showered my pram chassis last night, thats only cause I'm selling it today. :o

valiumredhead · 24/08/2012 11:51

Why? Confused

OnlyWantsOne · 24/08/2012 11:57

YANBU
My bugaboo wheels go in my dishwasher.

As does the tank from my dyson

KenLeeeeeee · 24/08/2012 12:00

Eight years of parenthood, four children, seven pushchairs/prams and not ONCE has it ever occurred to me to clean the wheels beyond giving them a quick hose down if they were muddy.

I am either a horrible slattern or you, OP, are bonkers.

pumpkinsweetie · 24/08/2012 12:01

Yabu-hose them down outside=clean wheels yet no contaminated cutleryGrin
I wash my prams with a hose, but only so the wheels when im selling

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 24/08/2012 12:02

ThisIsNotHoneyDragon · 24/08/2012 18:27

DancesWithSockPuppets · 24/08/2012 18:36

There's a whole world of cleaning I didn't know about. DS is lucky if he gets hosed down once in a while, never mind the feckin' pram wheels

Ambrosius · 24/08/2012 18:36

Headstone Honeydragon? Shock

ThisIsNotHoneyDragon · 24/08/2012 18:40

Only a little one Smile not a proper full on massive one.

Floggingmolly · 24/08/2012 21:05

Who's headstone? Shock

Floggingmolly · 24/08/2012 21:05

And why did it need to be sterile?

ThisIsNotHoneyDragon · 24/08/2012 22:02

It was an old pet one, a marble one, scrubbing was going no where so I stuck it in the dishwasher (not mine Grin), which lifted the crap of it without damaging it. Then we redid the writing in gold, and returned it to the grave of its occupant Smile

M0naLisa · 24/08/2012 22:05

I bought a second hand pram from someone and when I got it home and properly looked at it the wheels were filthy so I cleaned them with flash, Cif, bleach and turps Blush I used a toothbrush(new of course) cloths and ear buds to get into the nooks
They look lovely now and I can't wait for ds3 to arrive.
Also does any one know if a silver cross 3D main cloth comes off??

Floggingmolly · 24/08/2012 22:07

Sounds lovely, MonaLisa. Are you going to do it again after every walk in the rain? Grin

BornToShopForcedToWork · 25/08/2012 07:05

Okay, I am probably a little but OCD about cleaning the buggy. Grin

BuggerLumpsAnnoyed · 25/08/2012 08:12

Bloody Hell, fair play. The closest I've come to cleaning my pram wheels is rolling them over some grass.

Usually the cleaning threads on mumsnet make me want to go bonkers and do something mental like cleaning my skirting boards but I am not going to clean my pram wheels and never in a dishwasher

CouthyMow · 25/08/2012 08:19

People clean pram WHEELS?! In 14 years of owning a pram, I have never cleaned wheels. The fabric, yes, weekly usually, but the WHEELS? Surely they are gleaned by running them through puddles and making silly smiley faces on the ground with the tracks? Grin

scarletforya · 25/08/2012 08:34

Holy shit jumpingthroughhoops at your friend putting her toilet seat in there. What goes through her mind that makes her think that is ok !!??? Bleeeeeuuuurrrrggghhhh!

No way would I put pram wheels in either, the dishwasher is now contaminated !!

FatimaLovesBread · 25/08/2012 08:48

But the toilet seat water isn't going to stay in the dishwasher for the wash afterwards is it? So why is it bleurgh?

If you put a spag bol plate in one was, your next wash doesn't come out covered in spag bol because the dishwasher drains and rinses. Unless you have a dodgy dishwasher.

OP YANBU Grin

ScarlettInSpace · 25/08/2012 09:23

Umm I misread the title and thought the OP wanted to put pram wheels ON her dishwasher, which I thought was incredibly lazy tbh, making the dishwasher portable do she didn't have to get up to do the washing up Grin

nagynolonger · 25/08/2012 09:38

I never had a dishwasher when I had a pram so on the very rare occasions I washed the wheels I used a bucket of hot soapy water and a hosepipe. Maybe 2 or 3 times total (6 DC).

I have heard you can cook a chicken in a dishwasher. Why not stick the pram wheels in with a chicken........clean pram and dinner all in one!
