Hi,

Can I put dirty pram wheels (bugaboo chameleon) in the dishwasher?

Op yabvvvvu Envy sharing plates with dog shit, wee covered pram wheels. Why can't you hose them down in the garden

RaisinDEtre · 23/08/2012 13:42

I was going to say why clean pram wheels blah blah but then I remembered my own PFB madness so I shall say old toothbrush and weak milton or those ear-weekers (cotton buds) for scrubbing those hard to reach places?

LoopyLoopsOlympicHoops · 23/08/2012 13:47

How can doing anything so pointless and OTT be deemed lazy? Bonkers yes, but not lazy.

nemno · 23/08/2012 13:49

Are you sure the dishwasher heat won't wreck them, or the powder etch them?

ThisIsNotHoneyDragon · 23/08/2012 13:51

I cleaned mine in the dish washer as it had to go into a hospital, scrubbed the chassis down with anti bac too.

It also comes into my house so I like to keep it clean.

RaisinDEtre · 23/08/2012 13:51

oh I am loving the use of etch, nemno, superb

GoingforGoingforGOLD · 23/08/2012 13:53

You're meant to clean prams???

janey68 · 23/08/2012 13:55

Maybe I'm missing something here... But arent pram wheels something which are bound to get dirty because you push your pram outdoors? Surely life's too short to be arsing about cleaning them full stop

janey68 · 23/08/2012 13:57

I used to keep my pram indoors btw but only inside the back door. You don't exactly push a pram around your house..... Or do you?!

halcyondays · 23/08/2012 14:00

Yabu, the only things that should go in the dishwasher are dishes.

nemno · 23/08/2012 14:15

Thank you RaisinDEtre, that made me smile (and I really need to at the moment).

Keepthechangeyoufilthyanimal · 23/08/2012 14:41

I would consider it I suppose, but TBH I think the Bugaboo wheels are so easy to remove and I imagine easy to clean (Not too many nooks and crannies for dirt to hide) I think I'd just do it in the sink with a scrubbing brush or toothbrush. Would take less than 5 mins to do all 4 I reckon!

Pandemoniaa · 23/08/2012 15:49

I'm not overly paranoid about germs but do question the idea of putting pram wheels in the dishwasher. But then I'm rather astonished at anyone seriously bothering to clean pram wheels quite so thoroughly. Or at all in fact.

I can, however, see why you'd not want to bring excess mud and dog shit into the house but pram wheels are designed to go outside and cope with what the outside brings. Not be so clean that you could perform surgery with them.

CaliforniaLeaving · 23/08/2012 18:22

I put all kinds of stuff in the dishwasher and no one has died from eating off the plates afterwards.
Go for it, they'll come up lovely and clean.
If you are really paranoid about plates, do an empty run after with a bit of bleach in the detergent section.

UserNameNotAvailable · 23/08/2012 18:45

YABU Yuk!

I remember the last thread like this where a poster put her Wellies with dog poo on in the dishwasher.

Floggingmolly · 23/08/2012 20:32

In the dishwasher? Shock. I won't even ask why the wheels need to be washed anyway, they're going straight back out on the pavement, aren't they?

JumpingThroughMoreHoops · 23/08/2012 20:35

My mate puts her toilet seat in the dishwasher.

I dont drink coffee at her house. Or eat.

stoooooopidpigeon · 23/08/2012 20:35

All I can think of is the loon interesting woman on TV classic 'My Fake Baby' who had spare sets of wheels for her huge monstrous prams so they stayed pristine. And she did all of this for her doll.

McHappyPants2012 · 23/08/2012 20:37

i used DH valenting kit to clean my prams.

i also clean the car wheels

NewlyMintedPeasant · 23/08/2012 20:40

Pram wheels are puddle-clean only aren't they?

SecrectFarleysNibbler · 23/08/2012 20:47

Surely the dishwasher 'sterilises' with hot water and detergent????? I am racking my brains to think what other items I can stuff in the dishwasher!! I used to let my springer do a pre wash on the plates before putting them in the dishwasher - do miss that now he has shuffled off this mortal coil.

BornToShopForcedToWork · 24/08/2012 07:52

The wheels came out incredibly clean and shiny Smile . I did rinse the dishwasher after and i mention again: there were bo plates etc. in the dishwasher.

NumericalMum · 24/08/2012 08:06

Yabu to wash pram wheels... But if you must wash things thatdon't need to be washed YANBU to put them in the dishwasher. If you use a hot wash it is all sterile. In fact there are ways you can sterilise bottles etc in dishwashers (disclaimer I haven't tried)

My DH puts EVERYTHING in the dishwasher, including bicycle bits Hmm

MousyMouse · 24/08/2012 08:09

yabu to want to cllean them at all.
they are supposed to be dirty.

tetherendtoo · 24/08/2012 08:53

i can't stop stop laughing just reading these so PLEASE keep posting "what you would put in your dishwasher if you could" if i could stuff my toilet carpet tiles in there now that the kids can get onto the loo on time/aim properly...........
