Would I be unreasonable to dress dd as a uterus?

The Republican National Convention is going to be held very close to where I live... I'm thinking of going to protest and dressing up dd as a model of the female reproductive system... I'm slightly concerned about there being trouble there though and about using her when she's too young to have an opinion on anything herself (even though this will affect her long term). Is it wrong?

No idea really, but do you already have a uterus costume? I'd love to see it.

AKissIsNotAContract · 22/08/2012 14:12

Why don't you dress yourself up as a uterus instead?

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 22/08/2012 14:12

And can we see pics?

yellowraincoat · 22/08/2012 14:13

I'm never really comfortable with the idea of using children as a political statement, however much I agree with that statement.

AKissIsNotAContract · 22/08/2012 14:13

I reckon you could adapt a haggis costume into a uterus costume with a bit of imagination.

Mrsjay · 22/08/2012 14:15

I dont like children being used in a protest at all I dont think you should do it she wont understand whats happening.

AKissIsNotAContract · 22/08/2012 14:15

there is an adult one here. Is your DD old enough to hold the ovaries without dropping them?

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 22/08/2012 14:16

Are haggis costumes terribly easy to come by then Confused

I wouldn't, OP. Assuming she's little that is. If she was 15 and all for it, then that's be a different matter.

Ithinkitsjustme · 22/08/2012 14:16

Dress up yourself and don't use your child like this especially if you are concerned that there may be trouble.

BigOldFanny · 22/08/2012 14:17

she'd be such a cute little uterus and more likely to 1. be noticed and 2 seem non threatening enough for people to look at..

but yeah I probably should dress myself instead.

Havent made one yet.. thinking of foam costume would be quicker and cheaper for a two year old as well

ObiWan · 22/08/2012 14:17

Oh, the Pinterest one is rather disappointing. I was imagining something a bit more cocoon like.

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/08/2012 14:18

Ovary gloves?

I am also uncomfortable with children used as political statements. However, some people on the right in the US have gone beyond politics. Women are fighting for their survival there. 'Legitimate rape', miscarriages as abortions. Fight the good fight, OP.

nankypeevy · 22/08/2012 14:18

dress yourself up as a uterus, and attach her to you with a rope umbilical cord.

You are welcome.

AKissIsNotAContract · 22/08/2012 14:18

I was taking the piss Jenai, I assumed this was a pisstakey thread.

honeytea · 22/08/2012 14:19

I don't think it will actually do her any harm, I was taken to greenham common (sp?) cnd and anti thatcher marches as a small child. I would say so long as it isn't something shocking then it will be fine. Do expect her to question it as she grows up, me and my brother both had "tory phases" as young adults despite the left wing marches.

pumpkinsweetie · 22/08/2012 14:20

Do they actually sell Uterus costumesHmm?
And if they do, dressing yourself would be better-i think she may be a tad embarrased not to mention in danger by going out in such a strange item of clothing

BigOldFanny · 22/08/2012 14:22

Grin @ nanky

BigOldFanny · 22/08/2012 14:24

MrsTerryPratchett exactly, this is the only time i would ever consider taking her... I feel like this will affect her one day and it might be nice for her to know she was there

OP posts:
TallulahTwinkle · 22/08/2012 14:24

You could call her a Cuterus!

(cute uterus.....)

BigOldFanny · 22/08/2012 14:26

she would be a cuterus. and have adorovaries

OP posts:
5madthings · 22/08/2012 14:26

if you think the protest will be a peaceful one then i dont see the harm, it will make a great picture to show her when she is 18 Grin

and you MUST put the pic up on mnet!

0lympia · 22/08/2012 14:30

you dress up as a uterus yourself, dont use your dd to push back the boundaries!

WithACherryOnTop · 22/08/2012 14:32

That'll make for some interesting therapy sessions when she finds the photos.

Dress yourself up,not your child.

EduStudent · 22/08/2012 14:33

I love nankypeevy's suggestion Grin

Depends entirely on what you think the atmosphere will be like.

WilsonFrickett · 22/08/2012 14:34

Best thread title. Ever.

Also drumroll for Cuterus. And Adovaries.
