To not want to be vomiting at 30 weeks pregnant?

Sastra · 21/08/2012 15:39

I had awful sickness in my first trimester. It calmed down slightly in the second, but I still felt ropey. I'm now nearly 31 weeks and it's come back with a vengeance. I could cry, I really could. Have been off sick yesterday and today. I have no idea how I'm going to manage at work for the next 4 weeks. I want to give birth ASAP Sad

YANBU. I was sick all the way through last time, it's thoroughly miserable. If it helps, the nausea disappears the second the baby's out.

Sastra · 21/08/2012 15:54

That does help. I'm hoping she makes an appearance at 38 weeks.

You never know, could happen. Have you tried any meds for it?

BartletForTeamGB · 21/08/2012 16:02

The only day I didn't vomit with DS was the day I was in labour, and then it all went away and I felt fine (apart from exhausted, and bleeding, and agonising nipples and all that! Smile) straightaway.

Sastra · 21/08/2012 16:11

Yeah, but the meds I've had just knock me out, making work just as hard. I think my problem is that i've not had too much vomiting, just constant awful nausea.

I'm not normally one for alternative therapies, but acupuncture has been shown to help with pregnancy sickness. Maybe worth a try? I threw up pretty much every day of my pregnancy and it was grim grim grim. Cyclizine worked for me though.

FloraPost · 21/08/2012 16:21

Hmm, not great. I'm 10 weeks pg with DC2 at the moment (nausea from 3wks, hurrah) and have cyclizine which has knocked me out too - 10hrs sleep each night plus 3hrs in the day. This is only possible because I'm signed off work atm but no idea how I'll manage to go back. I'm going to ask the GP what else I can try. Certainly not going back to the evil bitch midwife I had last time who told it it's normal!

Sastra · 21/08/2012 16:23

I'm just horrified that it's ramped up again at 30 weeks. Has anyone else noticed that?

Someone suggested ginger juice to me after it helped her with chemo sickness. It helped a bit - grated ginger root squeezed though a garlic press and a couple of teaspoons of the juice added to tea or water.

Sawdust · 21/08/2012 16:33

Sad It's horrible, isn't it. Sympathies! All you can do is hang on tot he fact thatit isn't forever (and all for a good cause!)

Thanks
Sastra · 21/08/2012 16:34

I hate ginger but have tried it in all it's forms. Hasn't helped.

The midwife suggested ginger at my 28 week appointment and I actually burst into tears Blush

Could it be due to this awful humid weather?
Have you tried buccastem- that's quite good

valiumredhead · 21/08/2012 16:38

I was sick all the way through my pregnancy but it got worse at about 30 weeks due to PE.

Ginger and Lemon tea worked well for me along with ginger biscuits.

Halfling · 21/08/2012 16:45

I vomited at least 4-5 times a day till 4 hours before my crash C-section at 37 weeks. Nothing helped.

FloraPost · 21/08/2012 16:47

Fair enough.

You're at least 75% done though and you never have to do it again if you don't want to. I genuinely found looking after a newborn (and a rather poorly one) easier than pregnancy. Hope you find the same.

sleepsforwimps2010 · 21/08/2012 17:10

I was exactly the same! the thought if ginger made me gag!
my nausea stopped at about 36weeks the only thing that helped me was mint tea, so if you havent done try that next...
and my gorgeous dd is now 3 weeks old and trust me when I say the nausea will very soon just be a bad memory! you've got lots to look forward to, your nearly there. good luckx

Sastra · 21/08/2012 17:12

Thanks Flora Smile

I'm just having a really rough couple of days, totally fed up of it all. End is kind of in sight but not really, if toy know what I mean. The weather is definitely not helping.

Valium - what's PE?

And Futthe - what's buccastem?

I also think its worse than the first tri nausea as I now have astonishing heartburn too. Ritadine (or whatever it's called) takes the edge off, but still most definitely there.

Jesus Christ I'm a miserable cow today! DH needs to get home so I can moan at him instead poor man

Sastra · 21/08/2012 17:16

Oh balls, yes, I've tried buccastem (different brand name) Sad

Have you seen the midwife since the vomiting started again? I don't mean to worry you, just be aware vomiting and nausea in the thrid trimester can be a symptom of pre-eclampsia. Especially if you're getting any headaches.

Chances are it's the morning sickness but it may be worth having a routine appointment and getting your BP checked, just for peace of mind.

valiumredhead · 21/08/2012 17:18

Pre Eclampsia - vomitting can be a sign of an enlarged liver iirc - worth mentioning to your MW.

Sastra · 21/08/2012 17:19

No, i haven't seen her. It hasn't really started again, more just increased from its background level...

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 21/08/2012 17:19

I was convinced I hadn't got PE as I had no visual disturbance or head aches - but I was actually very seriously ill. The only head ache I had with it was before ds was born and that was like nothing I had ever had in my life.

Not trying to scare you but please mention it to your MW.

HeadfirstOverTheHighJump · 21/08/2012 17:22

That's what happened with me, morning sickness never 100% went away, just waned, but at 26 weeks I was suddenly being quite violently sick. I had dc1 4 weeks later! My MW gave me a good telling off for not ringing her Blush. It was accompanied by headaches and odema though and with it being my first I hadn't a clue. I'm not saying that's what it is, just that it may be worth giving the MW a ring if the nausea/vomiting has significantly increased/got worse.

valiumredhead · 21/08/2012 17:24

PE sneaks up on you, it wasn't until after I had ds that I realised how ill I'd been.
