To not want to be vomiting at 30 weeks pregnant?

Sastra · 21/08/2012 15:39

I had awful sickness in my first trimester. It calmed down slightly in the second, but I still felt ropey. I'm now nearly 31 weeks and it's come back with a vengeance. I could cry, I really could. Have been off sick yesterday and today. I have no idea how I'm going to manage at work for the next 4 weeks. I want to give birth ASAP Sad

Yeah, agree with valium, you don't always get all the symptoms of PE.

valiumredhead · 21/08/2012 17:24

Ds was delivered at 32 weeks - that should've been a clue!

Sastra · 21/08/2012 17:25

Hmm, well i've got an appointment next Wednesday?

Worried about PE after reading this. I am 30 weeks. Docs are concerned about my BP.

I had awful nausea in the first trimester. For the last two weeks I have been sick again almost every mornings. Theres hadly anything to bring up but its pretty violent.

I have no nausea and Im not sick any other times. I have low iron. Should I be worried?

Really feel for you OP. Sickness in work is dreadful. In my first pregnancy the last four weeks of work dragged by!

valiumredhead · 21/08/2012 17:28

Ring her and see what she says - she might want to see you earlier.

valiumredhead · 21/08/2012 17:29

wanna ring your MW especially as you have BP concerns already.

Sastra · 21/08/2012 17:30

Just trying to dig out a number now...am not convinced I've got one. I guess they'd be pissed off if I called the labour ward!

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 21/08/2012 17:31

Would the GP surgery not know the number?

wannabedomesticgoddess · 21/08/2012 17:34

Will call tomorrow when I top up. :( worried now.

Sastra · 21/08/2012 17:34

So I did have a number Blush but they're only open 9-5. You can call the birth centre in an emergency, but I guess it can wait til the morning.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Hideous when there's just no escape from it. I think lots of people find the last weeks really drag. It's a poor state of affairs when you have to select what to eat based upon how uncomfortable it will be when it comes back up.

You ARE nearly there though and a normally functioning digestive system will once again be yours in two months.

I just read the NHS info on buccastem. Sounds a bit grim.

Sastra · 21/08/2012 17:40

It's given me huge amounts of empathy for people living with long term health conditions. Personally I have wondered whether it's lead me to being a bit depressed.

wanna try not to worry, just get yourself seen tomorrow. If it is PE then at least you'll know and hopefully they can take measures against it.

Feeling I'll for so long is very waring and could be getting you down. I found gaviscon helped when my sickness came back in later pregnancy, think vomiting was due to acid indigestion.

Hope you feel better soon

HeadfirstOverTheHighJump · 21/08/2012 17:47

Try not to worry, pre-eclamsia can be quite mild too, it's just worth getting checked out.

The later it develops the more mild it tends to be, but they do need to monitor you.

grumblinalong · 21/08/2012 17:56

It sounds like you have hyperemesis - which can trough and peak. I had whole pregnancy HG with all 3 DC's - it was grim, grim, grim. My last vomit was usually on the way to the hospital in labour Grin

There is a brilliant hyperemsis support thread in the pregnancy section on here that helped me through the (many) dark days. In my last pg the hyperemesis definitely caused antenatal depression and then after the birth I had PTSD, so it's very probable you are feeling down OP. Is there any chance you could just asked to be signed off sick?

Sastra · 21/08/2012 18:19

Thanks grumbling I guess I would feel a bit of a fake on the HG thread. As I can usually keep water down, I've never been admitted, and although I am sick, it's the awful, awful nausea that's killing me. Those poor women have it rather worse!

OP posts:
BungerBear · 21/08/2012 23:07

I second grumbling. Have a look at the hyperemesis support threads. Its a support thread for all pregnancy sickness including the utter awfulness of constant day in day out nausea. And you are not a fraud! It is horrendous to feel that way day in day out.

It is worth getting checked out for the PE but hyperemesis does seem to ease off during the second tri and come back in the 3rd for some women. It did for me but without the vomiting. I still ended up unable to eat with awful food aversion. The meds I was on were not enough for me and I did not know enough to ask for more effective treatment. If you are feeling really awful get your keytones checked in a urine sample to make sure you are hydrated and eating enough too. If your midwife is not supportive see your GP.

Have you looked at the Pregnancy Sickness Support website for information and support? www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

Hope you get some help and feel better soon Smile

FloraPost · 22/08/2012 07:18

Thanks for the link Bunger. I'm hoping to see the GP again this morning so will ask about some of those drugs.

Sastra How are you feeling today? You are absolutely not a fake, btw. I thought the same in my last pregnancy because I could keep some fluids down and kept working until the day before DS was born (idiot). This time round I'm resolved to be kinder to myself and get all the help I can. What you're going through is real and serious.

Sastra · 22/08/2012 12:20

Hi everyone. Am currently sat in the maternal assessment unit. Have ketones and leukocytes in my wee, just waiting to see what that means!

Blood pressure and baby good though.Smile

Sastra · 22/08/2012 12:20

Psammead · 22/08/2012 12:22

Had moderate sickness in first trimester, it's come back now I have hit 31 weeks. Threw up this morning which was an unpleasant surprise. Had no sickness with DD1.

Thanks rasberry. Am just on my way home from the assessment unit. It was touch and go in terms of them admitting me Sad I have two new sets of meds to try, so let's see how that goes!

Sastra · 22/08/2012 16:12
