I had awful sickness in my first trimester. It calmed down slightly in the second, but I still felt ropey. I'm now nearly 31 weeks and it's come back with a vengeance. I could cry, I really could. Have been off sick yesterday and today. I have no idea how I'm going to manage at work for the next 4 weeks. I want to give birth ASAP Sad

Good luck with the meds!

Kind of. Ketones, I has them, but the GP gave me yummy dioralyte to try for 24 hours. If I can't keep it down or if another test tomorrow shows no improvement, then it's drip time. The GP doesn't want to prescribe anything but cyclizine for the moment because I'm still in the 1st trimester so it might, ha ha, clear up by itself in a few weeks.

I had my booking appointment this morning too. It was nice to get confirmation that I can have another CS if I want one; no 42 week hell for me Smile.

Ta, and for you.

Hi guys it sounds like some of you are getting more help. Flora I would go back to GP and ask for more support really. Chances are it won't go by the end of the first tri. But fingers very crossed it does. Lots of studies out there to show that the quicker and more effectively you are treated the better chance you have of feeling better quicker. Cyclizine always seems to be the first drug of choice and if it works great but if not, it can be combined with others.

Print off information and take along as a lot of GPs seem very reluctant to give out meds for this and many women have to fight for it. Keyotnes are not good news. Dehydration also makes it tonnes worse and it becomes a vicious cycle. It is a pita but if you have to go in for fluids it is a good idea to go in. And rest rest rest as activity seems to make it much worse. Make sure the meds are more effective before you are discharged as you just end up back in for more fluids.

Good luck everyone and do have a look at the hyperemesis thread, there is a lot of helpful info and support on there.
