To not want my PIL to look after DTs when hungover?

DH thinks IABU, but then his parents can do no wrong.

Bit of background: DTs born 2 months early, very poorly and in hospital until their due date. I was very unwell myself at this time due to surgical complications. PIL generally very supportive but thought I was 'milking' situation.
Also, MIL wants to have DTs during the week while I'm at work. (Another thread perhaps?)

DTs are now 6mo. PILs have looked after them twice overnight (have another disabled child so get virtually no sleep) and both times have made silly mistakes. (dropping DT2, not sterilising bottles) On both occasions PILs have been horribly hungover and STINKING of alcohol. When I say hungover, I mean throwing up hungover. Both times they have denied drinking but admitted it the next day when we get home, laughing about being sick!

AIBU to think that drinking heavily the night before looking after someone else's children is not on?

Was alcohol involved in the twin being dropped?!

Yanbu. In regard to the other issue of them looking after them whilst you work, don't do it. Not because of the alcohol thing but for sooo many other reasons.

YANBU Shock that your DH would think they were a good choice of babysitter for your babies!

Yanbu at all my step dad was a heavy drinker when my dds were wee I wouldnt let them stay if he was drinking , can you get some other respite ?

IceCubes · 21/08/2012 09:25

I don't think alcohol was involved in twin droppage! But I would imagine feeling crap didn't help!

Thanks, my DH thinks I'm being silly. I have my own DPs but they aren't in a position at the moment to help as much due to ill health. I'm considering asking SS for more help with DS1 but I feel like a bit of a failure as it is without SS being in the mix Sad
