To think a politician should know that there is no such thing as presumed consent?

George fucking Galloway on newsnight. He has put a video blog up saying that if you go to bed with someone you have consented to sex. I hope his constituents are aware.
I hate the obsession with stranger rape by male politicians in this country it seems once you know someone they can't rape you in their mind. Bastards.

YANBU. He's an idiot.

There's already threads on this in other sections -

George Galloway - insertion not rape

Galloway's ignorance

Any attitude towards rape which is not complete and utter disgust is the wrong one imo.

Have you seen the news regarding the american politician Todd Akin? He was doing a tv interview a couple of days ago and made a disgusting comment about abortion and 'legitimate rape'.

Tapir I just saw that on the 10 o'clock news here - disgusting. I hope he doesn't get elected. I'm not normally a fan or otherwise of Obama (actually CBA to follow American politics too closely) but I did like his simple and straightforward response: RAPE IS RAPE.

TapirBackRider · 21/08/2012 03:21

I'm hoping so too, but with the way things are politically there, there's every chance he'll get in. Sad

"Some people believe that when you go to bed with somebody, take off your clothes, and have sex with them and then fall asleep, you're already in the sex game with them."

That may be true. However the crucial word here is "believe" and fortunately ignorance of the law is no defence. Otherwise I could walk into my local shop, take whatever I want without paying and then claim I didn't know shoplifting was a crime and not be charged.

George Galloway jumping on the Assange bandwagon, missing being talked about I suspect and picking a subject guaranteed to put him on the front page? He's a tosser.

lovebunny · 21/08/2012 12:36

george galloway has strange views. always. and he is a publicity-seeker. he has nothing to do with assange but he's managed to get himself into the story...
