Will try not to drip feed so here goes... BF is 40 next month. We take regular trips to the theatre together. I save up through the year and buy the tickets and she repays me when the time comes. Anyway for the last two trips she has been skint and has been unable to pay me so I said to her it's ok see them as an early birthday present.
So it's her birthday next month and I have bought her some perfume. DH is annoyed as he sees her as already having had her present. He is also annoyed because he doesn't see her as being a good friend. 3 years ago I had a MMC and at the last minute when I was due to have the procedure for removal our childcare fell through and he asked my BF to watch the kids so that he could be with me. She could but only for an hour as she had a hairdressers appointment.
I don't hold any grudge for this. It's in the past.
AIBU for still wanting to give her the perfume?

yanbu.
it's your money, your BF.
if you can afford it, and want to, then it's totally up to you.

I have a friend like this and it drives my husband crazy! I can see his point of view, but I'd feel bad not giving a present on her bday

It's your friend you can give her what you like.

YANBU, unless you moan about it and then he expresses an opinion that is. Grin

Would he check with you about giving his mate a present?

I can see why your husband doesn't think she's a good friend. She could easily have cancelled her hairdressers appointment!

But, she's your friend not his. Maybe he just thinks she's taking advantage of you and he doesn't like to see it.
