My dogs called Bailey but I wish I'd put a bit more thought into it because it is a very popular name!

Calling for him down at the beach a few weeks ago, he wouldn't come but a massive golden retriever ( same name) did almost knocking me over :)

Some one on here called their dog Hully gully !

I want a collie, a lady one. I wish to call it Maggie.
Neighbours have a beautiful collie called Sadie which I also like.
I also rate Meg

Boy dog names......bonzo for the retro nod

Erm.....

coconutparadise · 18/08/2012 16:37

Rupert, like my hamster!

LtEveDallas · 18/08/2012 16:37

Flower

(Cauli-flower)

Brock

(Broc-colli)

Grin

(Actually I really like Brock for a Collie - it's an old word for a badger, is your collie black and white?)

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 18/08/2012 16:38

Badger is a cute name. Wasnt there a dog called badger in the Jilly Coopers?

Wheresthedamndog · 18/08/2012 16:38

Common for working dogs on farms (easiest to shout commands).

The expletives that go with it sometimes have 2 syllables though.

Shelton is really lovely...wish our dogs had some more imaginative names (listens to DH screaming 1-syllable names across the fields..)

FirstVix · 18/08/2012 16:41

My border collie was called Bryn (or Bryndy) as he was a blue Brindle colour.

howcomes · 18/08/2012 16:41

My parents got a border collie pup when I was 3 which I got to name. I called her Tarly, I have no clue where that came from, random toddler speak I guess! Anyway she was a lovely dog and lived to 16, I miss her!

Where has the OP gone?

I DEMAND to know if she's using one of my suggestions what they are going to call the dog. Grin

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 18/08/2012 16:54

Agree! And could there be a small prize if any god used? A medal or something?

JeezyPeeps · 18/08/2012 16:55

I suggested a god - do I get a medal ;)

griphook · 18/08/2012 16:56

Alan

Xabian · 18/08/2012 16:56

ours was Orca (similar marking to a killer whale)

She had no killer instinct at all but took great pleasure in rounding up the children

poorbuthappy · 18/08/2012 16:56

Jilly Cooper's collie cross was Gertrude and our collie cross is Gertie in her honour.
Badger belonged to Rupert and I think was a lurcher??Confused

HecateHarshPants · 18/08/2012 16:56

yes. Good idea Grin

ClaptrapVonShpilderbeans. Clappy or Trappy for short.

Now I'm just getting silly Grin

Pudgy2011 · 18/08/2012 17:00

Elvis

I have a shepherd collie mix called Elvis. He's currently watching me eat my fry up disdainfully.

Also have a Shepherd Retriever mix called Frank. Feel free to use either name.

Bernard
Benny
Frodo

NicholasTeakozy · 18/08/2012 17:02

Hadrian, Reiver, Offa or Passport.

After all, he is a Border Collie.

Pudgy2011 · 18/08/2012 17:05

Hit post too soon.

I remember being so excited when I was told I could pick Elvis up from the pound, he was this big ball of cute fluff and I almost cried I was so happy.

We then took him off round town in his smart baby blue collar where he was cooed over by everyone.

Enjoy every second of your new puppy, they are so much fun!

tallslutnopanties · 18/08/2012 18:32

I think you should name them after Blue Peter presenters...

I know a BC called "Dave". I also know BC's called "Gerald", "Shagger", "Donald" and "Trevor".

But then many welsh hill farmers have an odd sense of humour.
