Because I have just seen a little boy with a number 2 birthday badge on, sitting in a pushchair with a hoop earring in one ear?

I don't know the mother but she was taking to a friend and I overheard her saying it was a present as he just had a boring stud before.

I will admit piercing childrens ears is not my thing but I generally don't see why people argue about it, fire stone reason though the fact that its a little boy shocked me more.

Who gives a fuck if someone looks common?

usualsuspect · 18/08/2012 14:50

If you judge someone for looking common, you are a bloody idiot.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 18/08/2012 14:50

me.

iseenodust · 18/08/2012 14:50

Are you jealous her 2 year old clearly has a G&T ability to debate the style merits of hoop v stud? Grin

Petsinmyolympicpudenda · 18/08/2012 14:51

But KittyFane1 you need people to look common so you have people left to sneer at right?

Kayano · 18/08/2012 14:51

People judge all the time.

Last time I judged was a pregnant woman in December in pj bottoms an uggs, belly top with exposed bump, and smoking

I was literally at the window curtain twitching like WTAF?!?!?!

usualsuspect · 18/08/2012 14:53

Did you think she looked common?

Bossybritches22 · 18/08/2012 14:53

usual my nan for one Grin

that was the epitome of how low one could sink "oh she's so common"

With a very firm hoick of the judgey pants & a hitch to the bosom.

D0oinMeCleanin · 18/08/2012 14:53

How, exactly does one look common anyway?

But as an aside I know of a young boy who used to wear a diamond stud. He got it done when he was 7. He also bleached his hair. Common right? He'd have plenty of time for that when he is a teenager, right?

He beat his cancer that time.

I refrain from judging unless I know the full story.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 18/08/2012 14:54

What's the difference between judging someone as posh or common or somewhere in between? I am more common than posh - and I know I am judged that way. No big deal.

Kayano, chances are that type of woman that you saw, would be the type most likely to have her kids ears pierced before the cord had fallen off its belly button.

usualsuspect · 18/08/2012 14:56

So you judge someone for being common, but you admit to being common?

How does that work then?

usualsuspect · 18/08/2012 14:56

Do you judge yourself?

FalseStartered · 18/08/2012 14:57

i feel sorry for the little boy

so many people will take what the OP has written and then make so many assumptions on his life

FreudianSlipper · 18/08/2012 14:57

lets hope you do not strangle yourself on your knicker elastic so we can have your next instalment of how terrible other chavy/commonparents are it is fascinating

BuntCadger · 18/08/2012 14:57

YANBU op.
usualsudpect you bored or something?

usualsuspect · 18/08/2012 14:58

NeedToSleepZZZ · 18/08/2012 14:59

usual I have a lot of time for your posts and agree with you frequently but I do think the ear piercing issue is, not tantamount to child abuse exactly but near enough. I really don't care what people dress their children in but to inflict pain on a child for the parents' benefit really isn't on. I can see that the op is pointing out the issue of a hoop earring being dangerous but I think the real point is the piercing in the first place, I feel the same about circumcision for religious/ non medical reasons.

HolyOlympicNamechangeBatman · 18/08/2012 14:59

I think usual may have shares in a child's ear piercing company

Kayano · 18/08/2012 15:08

I thought she looked like a lazy woman with no self respect or care for her unborn child usual. I don't like 'common'either
