My dd was woken up last night as I was I by lots of shouting and screaming. Now this wasnt just your nieghbours having a bit of argument, it was getting louder and angrier. I looked out of my house and there were more people running angrily in the direction it was although I couldnt actually see where it was. My dd was still awake andas I didnt like the sound of it I decided to call the police which I did ( Al this was over the space of 2 minutes). It turns out that several others had called too so it was just me. DD was petrified and it took me an hor and a half to get her back to bed after it all happened.
It did go quiet but I dont know if that was before the police turned up or not.
I feel i did the right thing but am sure some will think differently and just wondered what your views were?

I would have done. Others obviously thought the same too.

I had to do this once although it was late in the afternoon and I heard shouting down the road. I looked out the window and there was a man in the middle of the road shouting up to a woman in the window, he bent down, picked something up and ran towards the house. I just called the police then.

If several called the police, then seems you all had the same idea.

I think you've answered your own question. If several others called the police too then chances are it was the right thing to do.

I dont know who the people involved were so dont need to worry about having to face them, which is a relief. I just didnt want tot involved and had a little one to deal woth who obviously comes first.

I just know what people's reactions are like but like you say if others were calling too I was obviously not overreacting!!!!

I think you did the right thing. The idea is that you let the police come and decide whether it's something they need to deal with or not, you don't intervene yourself. So what you did was completely appropriate.

Thank you guys. There was no way I was going to get involved!!It sounded that nasty!!!! And at the end of the day my priority was my dd who was absolutely petrified!!!
The woman on the phone said I had done the right thing and other residents had also done the same. I just know that people's opinions of calling them differ, so was curious to see what others said.
