To be upset with my sister because of this?

My sister has just posted a link on my fb wall to something called the parenting rap- this stupid American rap about a
Couple who used to be fun and glamorous but are now Boring and obsessed with nappies etc, and said it reminds her of me. I know it is stupid but I feel really upset about it. I had ds 19 mo ago and yes I am consumed up in him but I also work full time, have friends and other interests besides my ds, and even if I didn't, the joy that my ds brings me and my dh far outweighs the sleepless nights/ nappy changing. I hunk I have still made an effort with my appearance and social like since having him, so just resent her implication. I'm not saying I haven't changed since I had him, I have, but for the better I think!

Can anyone think of a Good way to respond To her?

Laugh it off? Surely you can take a joke from a sibling?

Does she have kids? Not knowing the type of relationship you have with your sister it's difficult to say. It sounds like something my sister would do, but I know it's just a lighthearted pisstake. I'm now referred to as Lynette (of Desperate Housewives fame). I call her an old spinster (she's not, she's only 29) some how she doesn't seem to be able to take the joke as well as me.

Is she married/have a boyfriend? Can you find a link to an old maid card game thingy, or something along those lines.

She is 2 years younger with no dcs, she is getting married next month.

post a link to a bridezilla song on her wall :)

Post a link to a loudly ticking clock, if possible with pictures of babies.

Hmm she's not really a bridezilla though, she is refreshingly relaxed. And only 27
so tick tock thing not really apt!

Just laugh it off. Surely you're becoming the 'boring parent' in the video if you don't take it as a joke.

Just say something like, "Haha, can't wait to remind you of this after you have your first!". Laugh it off.

I always thought that jokes weren't considered funny if the person they were aimed at wasn't amused.

I lost a very close friend when I had my first as I was told I was boring not wanting to go out clubbing any more.

I honestly don't think I have become a frump. But even if I have I wouldn't care because I have my ds. Sometimes with her I think the gulf between having a dc and not having one is just too big. But I don't feel like that about other childless friends

If she didn't mean it nastily then I think your bring a bit sensitive.

She is probably just having a joke.

If your worried she is serious just ask her in person, but don't use the book of doom!

She implied you are boring and obsessed with nappies even though you are not. So reply saying this reminds you of her even though she is not a bridezilla!

Do you think she actually means to be hurtful by it? If someone posted that to me I don't think I'd be upset, well I guess its kinda true. (for me anyway)

Watched it, I think it's quite sweet and complimentary. Surely quite affectionate and gentle ribbing from your sister? After all, you are a parent now and presumably a bit more interested in things like nappies than you used to be?

The chorus goes: "Mom, mom, she's the bomb" - really struggling to see how on earth you are offended by this.

I think it's quite funny! I'd agree that most of it is relevant to my current life (DS1 is a toddler and I've just had DS2) but it is amusingly presented and the parents in the video seem to be portrayed as cool people (as in 'I'm totally on top of all this parenting crap, 'cos I is AWESOME' sort of thing).

I think the implication that you're boring is in your head, not hers.... I too have a younger sister and she would so send me this.

Sorry but I think you ABU. I'm not known for being thick-skinned but I wouldn't be offended at this. As partyparty says, it's quite an affectionate video.

Is it her perception of you or your perception of you that's upsetting you?

I love my DC's, I'm probably a bit too involved with them but just occasionally I make sure I do something that's about me.

Have you done anything for you lately, is this the issue?
