To think Peppa Pig is a spoilt brat!!

Ok so I know it's not real it's just a cartoon, but I think the way Peppa speaks to adults and her general attitude is awful, she answers back and never seems to get told off!

Ben and Holly however are very polite and I have to confess (I love watching it) my kids love it!

Which children's tv do you love/hate?

I hate Thomas. DD has jut moved onto Disney Princess from 6 months of bloody Thomas and its a massive relief. Every episode is "Engine is PRIDEFUL. Engine is PUNISHED. Engine is sorry and bleats on about all it wants in life is to be useful." There was a great article in the Guardian about how you could tell it was written by a Vicar as it's all got a subtext about the sin of pride.

I don't mind Disney Princesses as I can find something positive to talk about all the princesses (Cinderella and Tiana work very hard, Belle likes reading, Ariel is independent) except Snow White. Shes an ungrateful drippy squeaky mare.

Peppa should be bacon.

Skillbo · 17/08/2012 13:08

This may have been covered as not got quite to the end of the thread but there is an episode where Peppa accuses Suzy of cheating and it doesn't ever get resolved properly - to the point where Suzy ends up apologising to Peppa... WTF - No, Daddy Pig, it was your spoilt madam of a daughter that should be apologising....

I do dislike Peppas attitude but what gets me is how old is George supposed to be? I saw an episode where he had his 2nd birthday but his speech is pretty poor - only seems able to say dinosaur! - yet his motor skills are highly developed... he seems to be able to climb ladders and pour juice and do things which my 3 year old would struggle with!

I know I am reading far too much into it but if you have to watch it a lot, it does grate on you!

(you can get a TomTom with a Brian Blessed voice and I LOVE the idea of being directed around by Grampy Rabbit!!)

SleepyFergus · 17/08/2012 14:15

Does anyone else think there is a slight dirty undertone to the narration of Thomas? It's the way is said...

B-usting his B-uffers
P-uffing his P-istons

And so on...

Lambzig · 17/08/2012 14:28

I hate the way that Mike the Knight is usually really naughty or wrong at the beginning while his friends are being good and doing the right thing.

He then sees the light and its time to "do it right" and gets it right. Then he is hugely praised by his very dozy mother (clearly he is pfb) for being so good. His friends who were right all along get no praise. Not fair.

simperingsally · 17/08/2012 14:29

I dislike Peppa too. But love how George seems to be good at everything.
And Max and Ruby. anybody watch it. Why do they have no parents and why does Grandma live in a seperate house they are only kids aren't they?
And Ruby always telling Max off agrrr!
Unfortunately dd loves it.

HipHopOpotomus · 17/08/2012 14:34

I love Peppa. I'd much rather have child pig with a bit of spirit and nous and her own opinion on the world, than one who is unable to voice herself, or is afraid to ask, lest she be a hassle to someone or god forbid, speak out of turn.

Peppa is also largely polite and respectful.

LilyCocoplatt · 17/08/2012 14:37

I agree that Mike the Knight is a total little prick, one of these days I hope his witch sister snaps and avada kedavras him.

MadStaringEyes · 17/08/2012 15:37

I'm a bit meh about peppa, but i loathe the blatant class discrimination on Ben &Holly.

Loathe Team Oomizoomi and getting accidentally punched in the face by Ds1's extendo arms.

Who is Woman's father? It most be Sam, he's the only person with that very distinctive red hair. Sam should man up and accept responsibility for the little shit that is clearly his.

MadStaringEyes · 17/08/2012 15:38

*Norman, typed completely the wrong word Confused

littlemisssunny · 17/08/2012 15:48

I have my suspicions that Sam is Norman's father too, perhaps they should go on Jeremy Kyle for a DNA test!! Grin

NiniLegsInTheAir · 17/08/2012 15:57

LOL @ the thought of Evie doing Avada Kedavra to Mike. Grin. He's an arrogant little tosser who idolises his absent deadbeat Dad (hasn't anybody ever told him Knights go around raping and pillaging?)

Peppa is a bit annoying but George's crying makes me want to get the apple sauce out. Angry

Am I the only one who thinks the lyrics to Postman Pat are a bit rude? "Postman Pat, can you guess what's in his bag sack?" Confused

LIZS · 17/08/2012 16:12

lol Have caught a few while flicking at lunchtime on Nick Jr this week Blush . dc have enjoyed looking for the tongue in cheek messages (Mr Bull and his random hole digging and the extreme ways of getting a baby to sleep). Loved the idea of the Queen recognising Miss Rabbit's contribution to the community with her many jobs ! What relation is she to Rebecca ?

Amykins · 17/08/2012 16:25

She Rebecca's aunt.

MadStaringEyes · 17/08/2012 16:26

Miss Rabbit is Rebecca's aunt, Mummy Rabbits sister.

Ds2 is an Alexander and its amazing how many people have asked if we got the name from Peppa Pig. Erm, no. And if he only sleeps to noise like on Peppa. Erm, no.

toxtethogrady · 17/08/2012 16:28

the pig marriage is passive agression writ large.
mummy pig has turned those children against daddy pig. yes he's a fool, but you need to back him up in front of his own offspring, surely?

Amykins · 17/08/2012 16:36

The pigs have a lovely marriage.

dranksinatra · 17/08/2012 16:47

Props pig is very sexist.the show, not the character.
Mummy pig runs her husband down at every turn, criticising everything he does, and the asking if she should call her dad to fix all his mistakes.
In front of the children, too.
Peppy is rude sometimes, and does get indulged a lot.
George is a crybaby, and the"yuck" has been repeated by my son many times.

dranksinatra · 17/08/2012 16:47

Peppa, obv.

Amykins · 17/08/2012 16:51

They organise lovely birthday surprises for each other though: theatre trips, big muddy puddles, cakes.

littlemisssunny · 17/08/2012 16:57

I want to jump in the huge muddy puddle that is left at the end of the episode with the flood (don't want the flood bit though) it looks like great fun!

OP posts:
Pooka · 17/08/2012 17:39

Ah but when I see them jumping in the mud left after the flood I just think of sewage and diseased rats.

Themiliton · 28/11/2012 12:13

I really hate Max and Ruby. That just makes me want rabbit pie. Woolley and Tig is ok, and at least In the night garden has gone out of fashion in is house now!

cheekybaubles · 28/11/2012 14:03

Let me hear you all shout "WATCH OUT HERE COMES THE ZOMBIE!"
Is this because of all the weird threads posted this week?

LalyRawr · 28/11/2012 14:06

Mr Tumble needs to die.

I hatehatehatehatehatehate him. My daughter is not allowed to watch him. When my friends kids come round and watch to watch him I tell them the TV is broken (I unplug it).

My daughter is 9 months, so probably shouldn't watch any TV. But The Hoobs are the only reason I get my teeth brushed in the morning! It's the only thing she watches and she loves the little Motorettes in it.

But seriously, Justin/Mr Tumble needs to stop breathing.

MissFenella · 28/11/2012 14:26

I love peppa, abadas and lord Tumble

Mr Maker freaks me out with his crayon eyebrows and moulded hair and the bloody parping music. I can cook is banned as I was becoming homicidal.
