To think Peppa Pig is a spoilt brat!!

Ok so I know it's not real it's just a cartoon, but I think the way Peppa speaks to adults and her general attitude is awful, she answers back and never seems to get told off!

Ben and Holly however are very polite and I have to confess (I love watching it) my kids love it!

Which children's tv do you love/hate?

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 16/08/2012 19:39

The part where she hangs up on her friend is hilarious Grin isn't that because she's all upset because she can't whistle though and then her friend helpfully whistles right down the phone at her, that's why she hangs up.

And um, telling your friend off for cheating..? Isn't cheating, er, not allowed?

I really don't get why Peppa is supposedly rude, TBH.

Pochemuchka · 16/08/2012 19:44

Completely agree. I have banned said programme in my house because I noticed DD (3) starting to be rude in Peppa Pig-like ways.

Plus all the merchandise is hideous and expensive so would not be all

puds11 · 16/08/2012 19:52

Ive sacked off childrens TV cos its all shit, my DD will now watch QI, then she will be a genius.

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 16/08/2012 19:59

I like Thomas, programme and book versions. DS picks up some excellent phrases from it, although having a 2yo wandering around the house muttering "The shame of it, the shame of it," was a bit worrying until we realised where it came from!

jaffacakehips · 16/08/2012 20:19

I also think Peppa is a total brat. However I do quite like George...Raaa dinosaur!

And I really really don't get In The Night Garden? Blush

puds11 · 16/08/2012 20:29

If you drop a tab of acid before you watch it jaffa it makes total sense Grin

dementedma · 16/08/2012 20:32

Peppa pig is complete shite. She should be made into a bacon butty immediately.

FireboltOverTheMuggles · 16/08/2012 21:06

Peppa is made bearable by hoping that Grampy Rabbit is on, who cannot love a bit of the Blessed?

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 16/08/2012 21:39

I love Miss Rabbit too!

jaffacakehips · 16/08/2012 23:21

Whist eating a bacon sandwich right puds Grin

Buchanquine · 16/08/2012 23:49

Glad I'm not alone in disliking Peppa and her parents utter inability to ever tell her off. I also loathe Baby Jake - particularly the bit where the older one says 'You know the words, you used to sing them too' - no, my child can speak and even when she couldn't didn't go round Goggy Ghia-ing! I can tolerate Night Garden though Makka Pakka's OCD stonewashing and the way Iggle Piggle squeaks whenever Upsy Daisy hugs him are quite disturbing.

Do like Octonauts and Tinga Tinga - I bought some of the books the Tinga Tinga stories seem to be based on for DD1 and they're great.

curiousgeorgie · 17/08/2012 00:02

I hate Special Agent Oso. He is a total moron. "Can you pass the glitter Oso?" Oso bumbles about and waves towards jar of mustard... "Is this the glitter?"

Makes me seethe and speak to the TV along with DD...

However, love Curious George.

DD went to bed and it was on next so I watched it. It was a beautiful story about a baby panda Blush

ALittleScatterOfRain · 17/08/2012 00:17

Aren't the Tinga Tinga tales basically the Just So stories?

I still have a soft spot for 64 Zoo Lane.

GothAnneGeddes · 17/08/2012 01:08

I like Peppa Pig, I like the interplay between the characters (sorry if that sounds poncey). Agree with Bertie about the whistling episode.

Love Numtums, even though I now have to do Drumming With the Numtums on dd's bottom every night.

However, dd has also discovered Tiny Pop. While Milly and Molly ( I love Aunt Maud) and Madeline are okay, there is some utter monstrosities on that channel, you haven't seen cheap crap until you've seen Captain Mack.

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 17/08/2012 01:16

Is Daddy Pig on the dole? He doesn't shave and never seems to go to work and has a bit of a "I'm an intellectual and work is beneath me" vibe about him.

I like Suzie Sheep though- she's such a frenemy

GothAnneGeddes · 17/08/2012 01:34

He works in an office with Candy Cat's dad.

Is it just me, or does Daddy Pig have a lovely warm voice?

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 17/08/2012 01:40

Really? I haven't seen that one. I am in early days with PP though as have it on the ipad and only really use it as "emergency distraction" . Mostly we watch the campervan one as DS is obsessed with motorised transport

TribbleTuckandDismount · 17/08/2012 02:49

Bertie No, I'm pretty sure she doesn't cheat. That episode is imprinted on my brain due to DH feckless DVD buying.

Thumbwitch · 17/08/2012 02:53

Peppa is a brat and George is a crybaby.
I tell DS this while he watches it. It's instructional to explain why some of their behaviour is unacceptable - unfortunately he loves the show, so I have to turn it to my advantage somehow! Pretty much every show we have a "How rude! You shouldn't do that to your friends/daddy/brother/sister". Grin

JeanHarlow29 · 17/08/2012 05:06

Captain Mack is Captain Crap. Mr Maker is awful too-I got my kids watching Art Attack on youtube instead- at least Neil Buchanan didn't insult kids' intelligence. Some of the kids programs that are on these days are just awful.

Ozziegirly · 17/08/2012 06:06

Daddy Pig is an architect

I like Peppa - she is irritating but I kind of assumed that was the point. I like how George is quietly good at everything (swimming, draughts, whistleing wiggling his ears, skating - he reminds me of Snoopy)

I like Freddie Fox and Mr Fox, Grampy Rabbit ("DO YOU WANT TO HEAR A SONG?" "No no no nonono thank you") and I like clumsy, forgetful little Pedro Pony.

I think I prefer all the extra characters too actually.

MaggotMummy · 17/08/2012 06:25

Peppa pig needs a spit and some BBQ sauce....

Amykins · 17/08/2012 08:40

Yabu. Peppa is a bit uppity sometimes but always says "please, thank you, sorry" etc. I am right about this as have watched it loads. She is never cheeky to Madame Gazelle. She is annoying when she says "why" all the time, but she is meant to be three or four so normal behavior. Daddy Pig saying he is an expert is just an on-going joke in the programme, like Miss Rabbit's multiple jobs.

SuzySheepSmellsNice · 17/08/2012 08:47

Hahaha "Frenemy"... Grin

BalloonSlayer · 17/08/2012 08:55

"Diesel just looks like a mugshot for a captured criminal at all times."

Grin

I love the way Diesel sounds exactly like Lily Savage.
