To think Peppa Pig is a spoilt brat!!

Ok so I know it's not real it's just a cartoon, but I think the way Peppa speaks to adults and her general attitude is awful, she answers back and never seems to get told off!

Ben and Holly however are very polite and I have to confess (I love watching it) my kids love it!

Which children's tv do you love/hate?

Pontypandy must be the unluckiest place on Earth. The shop burns down once a week, the kids never go to school, Norman's a delinquent who spends most of his time getting stuck up mountains/inside caves/down a well. His mother is apparently oblivious to his whereabouts even when the entire village is under 3 foot of water... And the fire service seem to spend more time rescuing that bloody cat 'Lion' in the newer episodes than they do anything else...

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 16/08/2012 18:06

Peppa Pig is a vastly irritating older sister. Baby Feorge is an occasionally cute but still irritating and wet little brother. Daddy Pig comes across as an ignorant, Neanderthal umm pig.

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 16/08/2012 18:07

In the Night Garden is banned from my house. DS speaks perfectly well thanks, no need to be going on about a wretched Ninky Nonk Hmm

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 16/08/2012 18:08

My best friend won't let her daughter watch Peppa Pig because she never gets punished for naughty behaviour and she thinks it sets a bad example.

Goldenbear · 16/08/2012 18:10

Woolly & Tigg is loved in this household by 5 year old DS, 16 month old DD and myself. Tigg is not portrayed as perfect which is what I like about it. Other things that are good about it are that they live in an apartment, rather than a house, the mum appears to have a professional job in either architecture or engineering as she is often looking at large drawings of buildings. It offers quite good explanations for why things happen that children can understand.

I can't stand Waybaloo and Zingzillas personally but I think DD likes Zingzillas. DS doesn't like either. He likes the Lingo show but Seems to think it is always the French character.

GreenEyesAndHam · 16/08/2012 18:16

Mike the Knight really gets on my tits, he's selfish and rude and thoughtless and entitled, and those two fuckwit dragons and Trolly never refuse him anything because of his position of power.

Sure, he usually apologises in the end, but no one ever says 'No you can't have all the turnips and learn some manners you little shit'

broodyandpoor · 16/08/2012 18:17

I like Waybaloo because it is very gentle and encouraging of kindness and simplicity.

HavingAnOffDAy · 16/08/2012 18:19

My 5 yr old DD likes the programme but doesn't like Peppa herself as she thinks she's rude! Very perceptive I think Smile

UKSky · 16/08/2012 18:19

Love Ben & Holly. The tension between Nanny Plum and the Wise Old Elf - do you think it's caused by her throwing herself drunkenly at him and being rejected? He therefore thinks she's a bit of a lush and therefore beneath him?

In the Night Garden, upsets my equilibrium, can't be doing with all that perspective changing.

Abney & Teal is great, reminds me of programmes in my youth, but DD doesn't like it.

Like Everything Rosie. Nothing wrong with having a happy little land, where it all works out in the end. Could possibly be seen as a bit too "middle class" (thinking of Tufty).

MamaGeekChic · 16/08/2012 18:23

I hate peppa and it's banned in this house, for my sanity as much as anything else. I also want to smack Poi in Show Me Show Me,

MarysBeard · 16/08/2012 18:25

I think Peppa Pig is meant to be an average 3/4 year old & Lola about 4/5. It would be pretty unrealistic if they were not rude, demanding & naughty at times!

I love Charlie & Lola's sibling relationship, it's very sweet.

alwaysinthebackground · 16/08/2012 18:43

I dont like peppa pig she needs a good telling off, but i quite like daddy fox

my oh hates postman pat (he is a postman)he always mutters about how 'incorrect' it is! (Personally i think hes jealous that he doesnt get to fly a helicoptor about...)

I love octonoughts so do my ds's. Wish they'll do some new episodes though.

Gruffy · 16/08/2012 18:44

I cannot bare Peppa Pig! Bloody muddy puddles...

littlemisssunny · 16/08/2012 19:01

She is 5 I think? I wouldn't expect her to be perfectly behaved but there doesn't seem to be any telling her off or anything, I know kids have attitude but she seems to get away with it!

I think nanny plum and the wise old elf have something going on between them Wink .

broodyandpoor · 16/08/2012 19:05

I must admit Ive never seen postman pat have a smooth post round he allows himself to get pulled into so many dramas I think he needs to learn to say no,
'no Ted Glen I can't find the fruit bats and send them to you' 'no Granny Dryden I cant take you back to your house when I'm already halfway to my destination to get your basket'
He has the most un-productive working day

gets a bit too into it

HappyOrchid · 16/08/2012 19:06

Please tell me I'm not alone in loathing Mr Maker. Talentless nob.

pickledparsnip · 16/08/2012 19:07

the best one of all is numtums. the music! the dancing! the moves! so funky. i make ds watch even though he says he hates it i know he's lying.

Lauzifer · 16/08/2012 19:31

I secretly watch peppa and Charlie and Lola on my own when dd goes for a nap.

TribbleTuckandDismount · 16/08/2012 19:32

Peppa is banned in our house as well, rude entitled little Madam. In one episode she told off her friend for cheating (get real Peppa, you're just a useless sack of pork). Anyway, she rings her best friend and then hangs up on her after abusing her over the phone. Does Mummy Pig tell her off?! Does she hell!!!

Anyone for a bacon sarnie?

broodyandpoor · 16/08/2012 19:35

useless sack of pork!!!!! Grin

MiggleMoo · 16/08/2012 19:36

Love Ben and Holly especially Nanny Plum!
Peppa in Peppa Pig drives me mad but love mr fox and mrs rabbit!
In the night garden totally banned!
Thomas the tank engine is pretentious!!!

broodyandpoor · 16/08/2012 19:36

yes please Smile

broodyandpoor · 16/08/2012 19:38

Oh Thomas the tank engine is mental their facial expressions don't correspond with how they're feeling- Percy can look like he's got cinders and ashes up his arse when he's merely trundling down the track
Thomas can look suicidal when the narrator is saying he's excited and Diesel just looks like a mugshot for a captured criminal at all times.
