usually told to us by Nicholas Witchall, in a somber voice

I mean FGS the mans in his 90's, are we to hear every last thing wrong with him till he snuffs it?

I bet he hates it all too, theres no dignity for him either

Well, I hadn't heard it had recurred until you posted this thread so you're as bad as the rest of them Wink

squeakytoy · 16/08/2012 09:40

It is bound to be classed as major news as he is married to the Queen, but I agree, he is probably not impressed with it.

Apparently Philip refuses to step back and rest though, which you would think a bloke his age should really do now.

tiddlypool · 16/08/2012 09:41

YANBU. However, I suppose they want to prevent speculation that it's something sinister.

KnittingAnOlympicGold · 16/08/2012 09:42

Ssd, the BBC wrote the rule book as far as toadying sycophancy goes which means endless breathless reports of the minutiae of their dull lives Hmm.

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2012 09:42

Well he's been hospitalised. I'm guessing he also has illnesses that don't lead to hospitalization which we don't know about.

EasilyBored · 16/08/2012 09:45

I did have a giggle at the BBc reported who asked a guest Dr 'what a bladder infection was, exactly?'

Really?

Really?!

NameChangeGalore · 16/08/2012 09:45

He does suffer from ALOT of bladder infections Hmm. Wonder why...

squeakytoy · 16/08/2012 09:48

Probably because he is in his 90's and bladder infections in men are particularly common at that age. And potentially very serious too.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 16/08/2012 09:48

oh i totally agree, leave the man be. he doesn't want us all to know that there's something wrong with his wee wee.

Callisto · 16/08/2012 09:49

Of course it will make the news when he goes into hospital, just as it would if Sam Cam was hospitalised. Also, he has been the Queens consort for 60 years, and when he dies I think that the Queen may well follow quite quickly. For most people, the Queen and Prince Philip have been around for their entire lives. Loosing either of them will send a shock wave around the country, whatever your feelings about the royal family.

NameChangeGalore · 16/08/2012 09:51

Well I have to say. He doesn't look like he's 92. I think he's aged quite well.

usualsuspect · 16/08/2012 09:54

I'm sure he doesn't want the whole world to know that he has a bladder infection, but it goes with the territory

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 16/08/2012 09:57

Do we have to know he's got a bladder infection though, can't they make up something a bit less penis related for the press?

FreudianSlipper · 16/08/2012 09:57

i think most would age well if they had no money worries, none of the usual pressures of working/payign bills/dealign with childrens needs, waited on hand and foot had the best diet and doctors at hand all the time

i agree op not a fan of his at all but really do we need to know every little detail

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2012 09:59

There's nothing to be ashamed of! Maybe he should claim gout Hmm

usualsuspect · 16/08/2012 10:00

Well I don't want to know either, but if people get wind he's ill it stops all the speculation to release details.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 16/08/2012 10:00

Yes, it should totally be gout.

Or a sprained wrist.

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2012 10:01

Or that favourite of celebs, 'exhaustion'

laudinum · 16/08/2012 10:01

It was fish bones with the Queen Mother. Always getting fish bones stuck in her throat like a pelican.

Now it's Philip's todger.

Times change.

squeakytoy · 16/08/2012 10:02

Cant say I really think of the bladder as being "penis related" really.. everyone has a bladder.

MissFaversam · 16/08/2012 10:03

YABU. We'd certainly complain if we were just told the poor man had snuffed it out of the blue. What's wrong with being told he's in hospital again with another bladder infection.

I felt a bit sad today when I heard because to me it's letting us know he doesn't really have that long left now Sad

manticlimactic · 16/08/2012 10:04

I was thinking when I was watching the news earlier that Phillip will not be impressed his bladder is being discussed nationally. Can just imagine what he would be saying Grin.

I was Shock when one of the guests (think it was Arthur - that photographer?) said he would keep plodding on til he dropped dead. Just the way he said it.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 16/08/2012 10:05

Well it is kind of, presume he'd have trouble weeing. But he's an old guy, I just can't imagine any 90+ year old man wanting anyone but their doctor to know anything about their toilet issues.

Maybe it's good though if it encourages other older people to go to the doctor with bladder problems.

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2012 10:07

Yes agree with that

WipsGlitter · 16/08/2012 10:10

In older people a bladder infection can be very serious - it's nit just a bit of stinging when they wee. It can lead to confusion, high temps and lots if other complications.
