usually told to us by Nicholas Witchall, in a somber voice

I mean FGS the mans in his 90's, are we to hear every last thing wrong with him till he snuffs it?

I bet he hates it all too, theres no dignity for him either

I wish the poor old chap could be ill in peace. It just shows how little privacy they have. I can accept it's news that he is ill - and even what it is and that there is no call for immediate concern, but I don't like the way it's treated as such a major item.

pigletmania · 16/08/2012 11:38

YANBU at all, sorry but i and i expect others really do not want to hear about Prince Phillips very personal health problems. Leave the poor chap alone, forgoodness sakes its not life threatening, give him some dignity. I dont suppose The Queen would take kindly to the public reporting of her gynae problems if she did have some. I thinking that the media forget that The Royals are also human beings who deserve a bit of dignity.

I'm not sure about elderly women, stealth, my gran refused to see a doctor for so long that by the time she got there she had just over four months to live. Sad

But I do like the idea that maybe this will make other older men feel it's not so hard to talk about.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 16/08/2012 11:39

It is life threatening actually.

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2012 11:39

It very much can be life threatening. Infection still a big killer.

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2012 11:40

Really Lrd :( sorry was just a flippant comment based on whenever I visit the docs. I suppose lie everything it depends on the type of person you are and what you fear is wrong.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 16/08/2012 11:40

Yeah, definitely life threatening.

Any bladder infections in elderly people are a serious worry, for men and women.

EdithWeston · 16/08/2012 11:41

They have announced that - in this specific case - it is not life threatening. Or has there been breaking news this morning I have missed?

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2012 11:41

In general I think women have less of the embarrassment about seeing docs. Probably childbirth knocks that out of you.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 16/08/2012 11:41

No need to say sorry, SPB, just commenting I think lots of people can do with a bit of encouragement to go to the doc. I expect it is more men than women, though, they say that about all ages I think.

pigletmania · 16/08/2012 11:45

In the news it said that his was not life threatening, so why report it! Could they not have said he has been hospitalised due to cronic non life threatening health problms. He is in his 90,s it is to be expected

lovebunny · 16/08/2012 11:47

i think he'd probably tell us the details and laugh at the looks of horror on our faces...

piprabbit · 16/08/2012 11:51

He is rich and important, he has access to all the private doctors and nurses he could possibly need. I'm sure that if he was well enough, he would prefer to be nursed in the privacy and comfort of his own home.

The very fact that he is in an NHS hospital and expected the stay there for some time, suggests to me that this is not a minor medical issue.

CockyPants · 16/08/2012 11:58

I can't stand Phillip.

Take me to the Tower! Grin

And Chazza. Pompous entitled windbag.
Vive la republique!
