I've had long hair for years. At the moment its bum length and I've an appointment for today to have it cut into an asymmetrical bob. I'm a grown woman of 32,I have four DC and have been office manager in previous career. Clearly capable but a big yellow custard about getting my hair cut. I'm even getting DC2 trimmed at the same time for moral support.

Blimey that's a bit drastic Shock

Why not do it gradually?

Elephantscantdothemoonwal · 13/08/2012 11:11

Why not do it gradually jf you are scared?

Have it cut to your bra strap and then go again to finish?

FreeBirdsFlying · 13/08/2012 11:15

I really love that hairstyle, they met with me last week and said it would suit. If I did it gradually I would just not go back and it would be long again in no time.

Do it...I did it about 5 years ago (waist length to chin length) and I'm so glad I did. You will sometimes miss it, I do, but it's SO much easier to deal with.

YANBU by being scared though, I was nervous as hell. Can you donate your hair? Might give you another incentive Smile

I went from shoulder blade length to seriously short bob (cut to base of my hairline and then some; hair is curly so jumps up when dry). I had spent months growing to really hate the length but still had sleepless nights about the appointment Blush. Also new hairdresser because we've moved house since I last had it cut so it was all a bit nervewracking but she was lovely and did a great job. I love it Smile.

Make sure your stylist is good. I had an awful cut 9 weeks postnatal and felt like shit for months. It was done by the salon owner, a supposedly upmarket place!

FartyMcTarty · 13/08/2012 11:53

Sorry, that sounds unhelpful. I would definitely try to find out as much as you can a out the salon's reputation beforehand.

Have you gone yet?

Please, please consider donating your hair to little princesses.

I went from hair down my back to very very short - but because I was sending my hair off it felt good.

You need to put your hair ina pony tail, secured at both ends and then the ponytail is cut above the top hairband.
