to think this woman was rude to my DSs and not the other way around??

I took my DSs (7 and 5) and their friend who is 6 to the local park, and they were really keen to go to McDonalds on the way back so my DS1 shouted 'MCDONALDS' very loudly on the way back to the car. There was a woman, probably in her twenties, sitting in the car reading and she did look up and give DS a strange look (she had the windows open.) This prompted my other DS and their friend to all keep shouting MCDONALDS as I was fumbling around, putting their bags in and so on.

As I was driving off there was quite a long queue of traffic at the lights s we were sort of parallel with this woman's car and my DSs and their friend started shouting MCDONALDS again through the open windows to this woman who had been giving them dirty looks as they were shouting and this time she put her book down and looked at me and said in really terse tones "can't you keep those children under control?"

AIBU to think she was the one being rude? She was parked next to a children's play park and leisure centre and I assumed she was waiting for somebody but if she wanted peace and quiet there were better places to wait? I accept my children shouldn't have been shouting AT her but then they wouldn't have if she hadn't given them a funny look to start with!

songbird33 I think that might be happening. Smile

HildaOgden · 13/08/2012 09:51

I was wondering that myself,Songbird, suprised this is still going on.You took on board the first few comments within about 5 minutes and said you would address it....it's mad that you are still getting a bollicking!

theodorakis · 13/08/2012 09:56

Calling children scummy chav hooligans just makes you look like a stupid snobby pathetic little twat with a scummy little chip on your shoulder. because, I will call people whatever names I like thanks.

theodorakis · 13/08/2012 09:56

How would you feel if I now started on your kids? Absolutely horrible thing to do, no excuse.

FateLovesTheFearless · 13/08/2012 09:59

Course yabu. The kids were deliberately shouting at this woman. Rude.

songbird33 · 13/08/2012 09:59

Don't worry theodorakis, I'm not bothered by it, I just completely ignored any blatantly rude, sweary, abusive or personal posts because to be honest if you can't make your point without resorting to any of those things, I don't care about your opinion anyway :)

If I was her I would have shouted too...

DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER, LARGE FRIES AND AND IRN BRU CHEERS!

Smile
VanessaChin28 · 13/08/2012 10:02

Your kids were being rude and she was expressing her frustration at a society in which it seems children can do no wrong even if they are shouting 'McDonalds' at an adult whilst said adult is just quietly going about their business.

theodorakis · 13/08/2012 10:05

songbird, sorry, I have failed then! I just couldn't let it go, you are a nicer person than me. And I bet your kids are lovely most of the time like all kids, lovely all of the time would be weird or sedated!

songbird33 · 13/08/2012 10:08

thank you theodorakis, and usually they are very nice!

OP there's still time to get breakfast at McDs. I would suggest we meet up and your DCs and my DCs can shout at each otherGrin
Sadly, I fear you may not live in my vicinity as the majority of my neighbours are also vastly anal and are far too busy knocking on other folks doors to complain about their DCsGrin

danteV · 13/08/2012 10:11

Calling child scummy chavs says more about the person calling children names, than the children themselves. And its not good.

Frontpaw · 13/08/2012 10:21

I try to avoid interactions with strangers who catch your eye.

Like the lovely 'gentleman' who was giving me daggers and marched over to me before being pulled away by his kid (about 7). My crime? I smiled at the lad when I turned and saw he had ice cream all over his face (my DS is an ice cream monster and always gets it all over his face too). The nice man was yelling to his equally nice man friend to point out the kids face (in a jokey way). Why are some men such absolute twats? And who the hell procreated with such aggressive neanderthals? It really freaked me out that some big bloke would actually try to intimidate a fat middle aged woman.

In summary - there are weirdos out there. Some are armed and some are just loons.

And I got bollocked as a small child for shouting 'frilly knickers!' at the builder as a bet with my older sister. Miserable builder complained to my mum.

theodorakis · 13/08/2012 10:28

frontpaw, yuck to the first bit. I agree about those agressive men, very scary. About the frilly knickers, thanks for making me choke on my cake! Absolutely hilarious, what a miserable sod. Can just imagining him repeating that with a grave look on his face..

Frontpaw · 13/08/2012 10:33

'Yes madam, she definately yelled 'hello Mr frilly knickers' several times in a cheeky and loud manner from the downstairs study. I may have to knock off for the rest of the week to recover, consult my lawyer, and reconsider my future employment with you... Can I also please confirm for the record - I neither wear knickers of any frilly garments'

TheEnthusiasticTroll · 13/08/2012 10:34

Youoldslag Grin...lighten the fuck up.

songbird33 · 13/08/2012 10:41

Frontpaw, that is funny and yes, it does sound like the sort of thing my DS1 would dare DS2 to do!

Always wonder why people don't bother reading the whole thread before posting.

Now I want a big mac

YouOldSlag · 13/08/2012 11:59

Enthusiastsic troll-

Shan't. Irritating people for fun is just bloody anti social. There was nothing in your post to indicate you were joking.

booomy · 13/08/2012 12:04
